I'm late but I really think Choi Mujin trained her up specifically to kill him. Because he felt terrible about killing his friend, but felt like he didn't have a choice. So helping Jiwoo reach her goal was a way for him to look out for her but also he was accepting his own fate. He wanted to die.

It’s almost everywhere from work business settings to school (colleges) social settings that it can be toxic cause people pressures/ forces expecting you to drink even if you don’t want to or can’t (and refusing is hard since it’s frowned upon.) People will have to learn to drink and those who weren’t drinking eventually ends up drinking building tolerance so that’s why Koreans (most not all) knows how to drink plus with Soju being the popular drink they can withstand it. And also yes a lot of the Koreans dishes tends to be on the spicy side so eating spicy food with drinks are very common as a form of stress relief or not.

2023-06-14 02:33:16 +0000 UTCIt's easy to watch a show and be like "how come she never suspected the gang did it". She was a kid when her dad was killed and she grew up believing he was a gangster. She went to the cops and they blew her off. In her desperation Choi Mujin was the only one to help her. There is zero reason to suspect at that point that she was being played. And Roshi was right, Mujin took advantage of a kid with trauma. Another good read from Roshi was Mujin feeling guilty about the whole thing. We know Mujin genuinely cared for her dad, cause we see how he acts when no one is around. So him training Jiwoo up to (maybe) kill him some day is totally plausible. Man this show is so good.

2023-06-13 23:50:44 +0000 UTCin korean culture there is a whole ritual to drinking with people very like how there are levels to bowing. the youngest person at the table is supposed to serve/pour for the oldest as a sign of respect. if there is a group of people they will pour from oldest to youngest and you cant drink until after the oldest drinks first. i think they do this in japan as well, i know they do it in japan with food. the eldest takes the first bite then the rest can eat afterwards (i've only seen this with grandparents not when its just parents or a friend group situation)
