2023-06-16 20:16:39 +0000 UTCI mean yeah its obvious they don't teach any of them social skills, it kinda reminds me of promised neverland and how they want the kids to be smart but that's all that matters for whatever their goal. Also they literally have a robot for a parent, of course they will be horribly adjusted. I just assumed they had egg and sperm donors since they said the kids were 5 years old and those man-eater babies would only b a year or 2 old, yeah they could age differently but I think it is more likely they are just harvesting DNA from those man-eater babies and using it to have Mina make more of the "human" babies which I think are a hybrid of the maneater baby DNA and the (most likely donated by staff) eggs/sperm DNA

2023-06-12 23:37:39 +0000 UTCTo confirm u roshi, the 2 women were the little lesbian girls that were kissing in the facility. The black haired one was the man Eater cuz the baby has black hair. Presumably she was hiding the disease because the other girl didn't transform for some reason, or we just haven't seen her Hiruko form

2023-06-10 23:37:53 +0000 UTCSince the man-eater was split into three (?) parts maybe that’s where the other half of the couple went: the baby as the “core” and the couple as the two parts of the man-eater. Just a theory tho

2023-06-10 05:09:15 +0000 UTCFor once I'm actually NOT a manga reader this time, and I don't think the theorizing/explaining is a serious problem. This series doesn't really feel like the type to spell things out for you - you either pick up on stuff or you don't, there won't be any explaining later. I think pointing out these details is actually pretty helpful, because I don't think I'd catch it until a 2nd playthrough and Idk if I plan on doing that for this series. To Your Eternity was kinda the same way - I can think of at least one detail that went over half the viewers heads and when I explained it to them they thought it was a spoiler when it literally wasn't - you either figured it out that episode or you never would because it never comes up in the series again, even beyond where the season ended.

2023-06-09 02:36:57 +0000 UTC**POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD, READ WITH CAUTION. MY THEORY GAME TOO FIRE SOMETIMES!!!** My theory is that the two girls we saw kissing each other a few episodes back, one of them was the mother at The Walled Town. Since in the flashback Juichi said it was a ‘couple’ that used him and gave birth to his son. So it could be they both escaped together and went there after the Collapse and thus giving birth to the Ice baby. As for the man eater, they both were hung so that’s why there’s one there. I know there’s some holes in this such as, if they both were from the school and were hung then their should be two man eaters. But this is as far as my theory/ guess goes

2023-06-06 22:30:16 +0000 UTCI definitely think the spider was a child from from facility because it had a bracelet on its leg similar to the girl dancing at the facility from episode 1 I believe
Shane Beggs
2023-06-06 21:25:00 +0000 UTCWait I’m glad Roshi said something about the mother being a child from the facility. I also noticed that the spider had something on its leg when it was running, similar to one of the girls who was dancing on the rock at the facility it was like an anklet or bracelet. I wonder if juichi had a baby with that girl when she was older and then she developed the disease and turned into a Hiruko and now the baby is like a hybrid.

2023-06-06 15:51:24 +0000 UTCThe 5th graders all seem to be female aswell, no? Or am I wrong? That seems kinda interesting timing considering the incident between Tokio and Kona. I could be wrong tho and it has no correlation

2023-06-06 13:31:27 +0000 UTCnobody can tell me that those creepy 5th graders are not the man-eater babies from the incubators. I mean where else are those children just randomly coming from?
Saraël Lele
2023-06-06 13:02:53 +0000 UTCI don't think the disease is what makes you into a Man-Eater. The disease just makes you increasingly harder & harder to keep alive and FROM TURNING INTO A MAN-EATER (since you die if your heart or lungs or w/e get the disease & need to be amputated duh). I think the disease is a side-effect of instability on the 1st gen Man-Eater Humanoid thingies, likely due to them being experimental tube babies or w/e (think of those weirdass infants in the incubator room. Waiting for one of the new 5th years to say "Tokio" when she comes back after the delivery, despite the 5th years not having seen her since she's been away from the school area for months now), especially since Maru & Tottori or w/e her name is, haven't gotten infected so far. I suppose more natural reproduction causes some more stability somehow on w/e causes the disease. I assume it's the Core itself that turns you into a Man-Eater if it's inside you (it survived incineration when they burned that 1 kid's body after he expired from the disease at the Academy, so I assume he could have killed her himself if he had access to sufficiently powerful incinerator, since that's what they did to the 1st diseased dude, and he didn't rez as a Man-Eater)

2023-06-06 10:30:42 +0000 UTCOk another theory and I might be completely off base cuz I forgot what konas ability is exactly but what if this whole shit is happening because of Kona and he got pissed off because they took his child away from him which he might have been by the computer that gave them the initial idea to have sex and now he’s just drawing up man eaters and unleashing them and maybe before he never realized he was doing that but after they took his child he came to learn about his ability and was aight imma kill you all

2023-06-06 06:51:57 +0000 UTCI'm a manga reader to be fair, and there are maybe another clue or two that got skipped over, like I think there was a scene where mimihime gives the blonde haired boy the button off of her jacket which really conformed it all but I think got cut from the anime. But by this point in the manga I think it was pretty clear mimehime and the boy were dr. Usami and the patient. I think the anime just sadly hasn't been as clear about these things.
Paden Snell
2023-06-06 06:46:07 +0000 UTCThe guy who couldn’t speak was mostly likely deaf or mute for other medical reasons. Remember it’s only been 15 years since the Calamity, the Walled City can’t have existed for long enough that an adult/older teen could have been raised from infancy there (and even then, a person would still learn how to talk even if they grew up in prison-like conditions). Also the reason that many (even other anime onlys) assume that Jūgo’s mother was a former Takahara Academy student is because currently only people who are related to Takahara Academy in some way (Mikura, Tarao, and Mimihime) have been shown as being capable of becoming afflicted by the mysterious Man-Eater related disease.
Theo Vorster
2023-06-06 06:24:32 +0000 UTCAnime Only: There are quick cuts during and before the Man-eater fight that are a crutch for my theory so I say check them out with your trigger finger on the pause button. I don’t think the mother of Jugo is necessarily from the facility with children. She may have just been someone infected with the disease that turns you into a Man-eater after death. During a snippet while they are running away from the spider man-eater, you see that the spider has the mini action figure that Juichi and his partners had in a flash back. So IMO she was infected during or before her pregnancy, and since she died and hung outside the Walled Town when her corpse fully turned she attacked the school building. Her son has similar abilities because of this familial connection and may be part Man-eater now. This leads to question is this how the children in the facility got there powers, by having a part Man-eater parent? Not sure since it seems the facility children can get the Man-eater disease and the doctors didn’t know what it was. This may also that someone in a human’s DNA decides what you Man-eater form and abilities may since the child has similar abilities when the mother never had abilities while she was alive. Something interesting I noticed the former boar at the end who discovered the body might have been one of the boars who was raised by the others and that why he seemingly couldn’t speak since he probably barely learned anything language wise while there.

2023-06-06 05:48:01 +0000 UTCthis is irrelevant to whats currently going on in the show but the reason Kiruko in the beginning messed up her age is cause he's 2 years younger then his sister, before we knew the truth she just played it off as being bad at math

2023-06-06 05:37:11 +0000 UTCMy theory is that the monster in the school was the kids mom cause when we saw it running you could see the little power ranger shit they got in common with juichi that’s why I’m thinking that

2023-06-06 01:19:33 +0000 UTCI feel like this is an episode that you need to watch twice in order to pick up on things. Or, at least, that's how it was for me. Maru seemed to know a maneater was in the walled town before they were attacked. @7:17 - Maru quickly turns his head, likely because he senses a maneater @7:21 - We see cold air in the hallway. There was a LOT of body language in this episode that I didn't pick up on the first time. Most of the notable moments were of Juichi and Boar #9 (the traitor). You can feel the tension, but it also blends in with the background super well. @12:34 - The guy in green who ratted out Juichi during the escape (Boar #9) looks like a deer in headlights when he sees Juichi. @12:35 - The guy in yellow (Boar #6 / the leader), on the other hand, seems genuinely happy to see Juichi. There's a stark difference between how #6 and #9 reacted to being reunited with Juichi. @12:40 - When Juichi rushes over to his fellow boars, #9 takes a step backwards. @13:03 - #9 almost looks emotionless while sitting in the car. Maru notices this, but he doesn't say anything. @13:25 - Juichi's expression changes from one of shock when #6 is talking... @13:28 - ...to one of sadness when #9 is talking. His expression doesn't change right away though; it happens after #9 tells Juichi that the maneater attack allowed him to escape... and that he survived the maneater attack because Juichi's kid woke everyone up. In other words, Jugo inadvertently saved the guy who ratted on his father. @14:17 - This might be a stretch, but #9 is the only person not smiling when Juichi reunites with Jugo. To be fair, you can't see his mouth, but his eyes don't look happy. @14:28 - This one might be a stretch as well, but Juichi and Jugo are on the outskirts of the party while looking AWAY from the group. I couldn't get a good read on this one, but if I had to guess, despite everyone else wanting to celebrate... Juichi doesn't feel the same. He's happy about being reunited with Jugo (which is why they're holding hand), but it looks like something else is on Juichi's mind. @14:31 - Maru stares out at the father + son before getting distracted by food. I'm not sure if he's wondering why they aren't celebrating with the group, or if he senses maneater vibes from Jugo, but it stood out to me. @14:38 - #9 visits Juichi with a plate of food, with a smile on his face. I can't tell if it's a sincere smile, but he reminds Juichi that the party is in his honor. Perhaps the food platter is #9's symbolic attempt at a peace offering. @14:53 - #9 has a genuine small on his face when Juichi thanks him for taking care of Jugo... @14:55 - ... but that sincere smile slowly turns into a frown. #9 starts to say something to Juichi but gets cut off. "You know, Juichi..." @14:57 - Juichi promptly gets up and walks away before #9 can finish his thought. We aren't shown Juichi's upper face, but we can see his mouth. He's not smiling. @16:19 - #9 seems panicked about not knowing where Juichi is. Jugo and #6 are missing as well, but he's only focused on Juichi. The guy is literally told to calm down. @22:24 - After killing #9, Juichi looks down at the dead body and says, "Is it a grudge? I don't even know anymore. But I do know one thing. The one who killed Jugo's mother was --" @22:36 - Before Juichi can finish his thought, #9's mouth, previously a frown, turns into a smile. @22:37 - Juichi reacts to the facial movement with a gasp, but when we return to #9 a second later, it almost looks like Juichi imagined it? It was previously a frown, then a smile, but @22:38, I can't tell which it is. @22:47 - Juichi gets up and the screen pans to #9's face again. Only, this time, Juichi's cloak prevents us from seeing the face, so maybe we're not supposed to know whether Juichi was imagining things?

Theo Vorster
2023-06-06 01:03:14 +0000 UTCSheera got confused because she was under the misconception that when Jūichi said in the previous episode that "I grew up in a school surrounded by walls" that meant Jūichi was a former Takahara Academy student and that the Walled Town is/was one of the Takahara Academy facilities. But in actuality the misandrist Walled Town that Jūichi grew up in (just for 10 years, from when he was 12 to when he was 22, making him 23 now in present of 2039) is completely unrelated to Takahara Academy, and was just some wacko misandrist colony/cult that repurposed a regular old abandoned Japanese school (likely a Junior High or High School) as their "Walled Town". Thus Jūichi and the other "breeding/seed boars" were just regular human men/boys who got abducted by the misandrist Walled Town cult. However, since Jūgo is a Hiruko-human (like the Hotel King Totori) that means his biological mother (who became the spider-like Man-Eater) was a former Takahara Academy student.

Theo Vorster
2023-06-06 00:04:14 +0000 UTCIt's not even that necessarily, when Jūichi said he grew up in a school surrounded by walls, he's just referring to the 10 years (from when he was 12 to when he was 22, he's currently 23) he spent imprisoned in the misandrist Walled Town. As the Walled Town is literally a repurposed Japanese school (likely a Junior High or High School).

2023-06-05 23:26:25 +0000 UTCI think the only reason dude put a fake tattoo on his arm was because it's easier to show something on your arm than it is to show something on your shoulder. Basically for convenience sake.

2023-06-05 23:23:33 +0000 UTCThe spider was for sure the baby’s mom you can even see the power ranger thing on one of its legs. And remember that mimihime wanted to die as a human and not die then turn into a monster but the baby’s mom died and then a month later fucked up the facility.

2023-06-05 23:18:34 +0000 UTCThere were those two girls we saw kissing. They were gay so they would need a guy, our boar 11, to give them a child. If it's someone from the facility, it's probably them.

2023-06-05 23:02:38 +0000 UTCTo begin with, if anyone noticed how this episode had a noticeably different visual style and animation this episode, that was likely due to episode 10’s episode director and story-boarder being Kai Ikarashi, an animator who is a mainstay of Studio Trigger and has worked on many of their series and films. Now in regards to the plot, this was another one of those episodes that actually reveals quite a bit of information without doing so directly. Jūichi’s son Jūgo (who Maru identifies as a Man-Eater/Hiruko-person, likely similar to the Hotel King Totori and Hoshio/Mimihime) having the same freezing powers as the spider-like Man-Eater this episode is meant to imply that one of Jūgo’s mothers (i.e. whoever was his biological mother) transformed into the spider-like Man-Eater after being killed and hung-up by the Walled Town inhabitants. This revelation is further confirmed with the addition of an anime only detail, specifically the bracelet/rear-view mirror pendant (with the red tokusatsu character) that Jūichi was given by Jūgo’s mothers (who also each owned a identical bracelet); said bracelet can be seen attached to one of the legs of the spider-like Man-Eater in episode 10. For those interested in reading along with the manga, Episode 10 adapted about half of chapter 27 (13/26 pages), and all of chapters 28 and 29. This is equivalent to about 2½ chapters worth of manga. The remaining parts of chapter 26 (6/24 pages) and the other half of chapter 27 were parts of the manga focusing on Takahara Academy and Aoshima (the new vice-director lady character), I don’t know if those parts have been cut from the anime entirely, or if they are being rearranged and we might see them adapted in next week’s episode 11 instead. An added bit of bonus trivia, chapter 29 of the manga also identified the name of Jūgo’s biological mother (i.e. the one who became the spider-like Man-Eater). This was conveyed through the cover page of chapter 29, where the named is spelled out in katakana though the art of said chapter’s cover. The name in katakana is spelled out as “ナナキ”. In regards to the plot at Takahara Academy for episode 10, the new Class 5 students are the 15 five-year olds that The Director was discussing and referring to in the previous episode. Also in case it wasn’t clear, Tokio’s pregnancy has developed at a normal pace, so about 5-8 months or so have passed since Tokio was taken away in episode 9. As for how old Dr. Usami/Shiro and Hoshio/Mimihime were when they died, if we assume that Maru is indeed Tokio's baby (and Maru is 15 years old), that means when the two died in episode 8 they were about 29-30 years old. And to clear up Sheera's confusion (and anyone else's), Jūichi and the "Walled Town" are completely unrelated to Takahara Academy (either of the facilities). The "Walled Town" was just some wacko misandrist cult/colony that repurposed an abandoned regular old Japanese school (likely a Junior High or High School), hence why Jūichi said in episode 9 "I grew up in a school surrounded by walls", he's just referring to the decade of his life (from when he was 12 to when he was 22, making Jūichi 23 years old now) he was imprisoned in the "Walled Town". I hoper that helps clear up any confusion. And if anyone is interested in starting the manga after this season is finished (it is currently planned to adapt the majority or all of tankōbon Volume 6 of the manga, likely somewhere in the range of chapters 36-37), I personally would still recommend starting the manga from the beginning regardless, as in addition to the standard cutting of extra dialogue and scenes from the anime for run-time and cinematic pacing, the chapter titles and cover pages of the manga also play a role in experiencing the foreshadowing of the story that the anime can’t quite replicate (due to the inherent difference in mediums). The mangaka of Heavenly Delusion, Masakazu Ishiguro (who is active on Twitter), their most well known previous work is “And Yet the Town Moves” (also known as Soremachi), which was serialized from 2005-2016. They have also done a number of other single volume manga and short stories collections. Ishiguro's has also stated that the major influences for the Heavenly Delusion series, include the works Akira, Armored Trooper Votoms, and an old Japanese science-fiction novel titled "Dogra Magra" that was written Kyūsaku Yumeno (who appears as a character in Bungo Stray Dogs) and published in 1935. And if anyone needs a refresher on the ages of the cast of characters: Maru is 15 years old, while Kiruko is mentally 18 and physically 20. The approximate ages of Tokio, Shiro (the silver haired kid who grew up to be Dr. Usami), Mimihime (the girl Shiro had a crush on and grew up to be Hoshio, the woman Maru had to euthanize), Taka (the super strong/durable kid), and Anzu (the black haired girl who is good at dancing) are all 14 years old. The approximate ages of Nanaki & Iwa (the two kissing girls), Kuku (the frog-like girl) and Tarao (the sick and now dead kid) are all 10 years old. And Kona’s (the kid who draws the strange drawings) approximate age is 17 years old.
