Tanjiro said the individual emotions are strong, but if they split anymore, then they become weaker, the example was when he cut the joy emotion's tongue, it split into two weaker joy emotions. I think like Roshi said the purpose of the old guy was to get cut into the main 4 strong emotions.

Pacing I think was stretched out. Like scenes lasted a bit too long or there was a lot of dead space between dialogue/action. Like the demon wrestling with Nezuko had like a 10 second shot on it where they were just grunting and not moving or speaking. Or Tanjiro fighting the winged demon felt extremely repetitive and slow when he was shown to be very fast. It only sped up near the end when he got stabbed and hitched a ride. Genya had like 4 separate drawn-out scenes of him being "dead", and the demons just staring at him. Just felt way less dynamic than the previous episode.

Don't let tokito bitch slapping him convince you otherwise. Remember, Daki's record against hashira was 7 wins and 15 losses. Tanjiro practically beat her, then got even stronger after his battle with Gyutaro, (and AI yoroiichi) I remember the manga having UM4 monologue about how with every fight Tanjiro experiences, he gets much stronger much faster. The translation is a bit different it feels like here but the point still stands.

I don’t know if I’d go that far. Demon Slayer has never really been known for its writing, I felt like the overall plot even to the end was super generic. I feel like it would be nowhere near as popular without getting picked up by Ufotable. Don’t get me wrong though I still had a lot of fun with the manga especially with what comes next.

I'm not sure if ya'll caught this, but Nezuko and Genya are in that building over there... and Tanjiro needs to save them right away. I was low-key reminded of those repetitive moments from the Hueco Mundo arc when the Bleach anime felt it necessary to check in with every battle instead of just sticking to one. Every character needed to get dialogue, even if they were saying the same thing for 3 episodes in a row. While the Demon Slayer anime is nowhere close to being that bad, it did feel like the show was telling me to take a shot every time Tanjiro mentioned Nezuko and Genya.

People are saying it's god awful? I'm personally not a fan of the CGI, because I think it sticks out too much (like a fish out of water lol), but I can't deny that they did a great job.

Fr I was really just wondering why they don’t just decapitate both Genya and Nezuko when they had more than ample opportunity to do so. Tbf the battles and animation themselves are amazing so I can let it slide.
