@luis Delgado yes reusing animation is an age old technique being a Gundam fan since the 90's I'm a little to familiar with lmao. But the issue I was taking was less with reusing the scene but making the same point in the same conflict for the same reasons that had already been cleared up before. I haven't read this so this is just spitballing but for example if they brought that repeat scene I'm talking about again under a circumstance where it implies something new or contradicts how we originally saw it then that'd be all well and good but it's used every time to reiterate that he doesn't want to kill and has learned to feel from her something we've been over every episode so far.

It does indeed get quite good, and the readjustment of your expectations - while seemingly harsh - may be what you need to get to those parts.

Your right that there is some more stuff about his wife but again multiple of the flashback clips we get were not only in previous episodes but used more than once in this episode. It felt like they were persistently reminding us of something already made clear again without the purpose for bringing it up changing its still a reminder of his humanity which we have seen and heard from him every single time he decides to kill and a few other occasions. I'm not saying nuanced development won't happen or that they won't drop this unnecessary reminding of the audience what the MC's motivations are just that I expected it to be handled differently throughout due to it being paired with Chainsaw Man. Again I haven't ahead so there is plenty of opportunity for this complaint to be a fluke, I was just bringing up that by this point in the story it's heavily compared to I had a different impression of how.the narrative flow worked.

I think it is too soon to give a comment like that. Gabimaru joined the mission in order to have a chance to be pardon and return to his wife, and it has been repeated for 3 episodes. But it is different from CM, as the mc showed his drive as the story proceeds, here in HP we get to know about mc's wife, his motivation, bit by bit through short flashbacks, and every time you get some new information about her and their relationship.

Also they might add it in episode 4 but they skiped over a interaction between the sword guy and his moniter which included back story on both so that could be something worth seeing.

I think your taking what I'm saying not as intended I'm not saying Hell's Paradise is bad just that it isn't doing the same kind of plot/character development flow that Chainsaw Man did that was more of benefit to the flow and journey than to meet specific points most of the time. Again CM doesn't do that all the time and why HP made me lower expectations is because they have repeated that type of in service to idea rather than the whole plot in all 3 episodes with recognizing they have feels and what holds them back, resolving it then going right back to that hold up next episode. Nothing I said had any insinuation that the motivations were deeper in CM or that they weren't petty or anything so clearly your not catching what im saying. Again I'm not saying HP is bad by any stretch it just clearly has some narrative flow issues that aren't exactly uncommon and isn't handling them as well as CM did.

Not gonna lie the writing and character interactions this episode just lowered my expectations by quite a bit for this story. Revisiting flashbacks like 5 to 6 times in one sequence, reiterating the same point with no new context repeatedly, extremely nonsensical rationalization and reaction from like half the shown characters, basically everything feels written to reach a pre-determined narrative beat rather than feeling like a natural flow of events etc. The art and animation which are amazing are definitely going to be carrying this show if this is anything to go by. Still enjoying it but when it gets put in the same trio as Chainsawman I think that inflated my expectations for the writing a bit prematurely.

This is a really good anime adaptation (mappa lol) but the manga is some gas. The art is actually some of the best of the new gen and it's extremely good (I'd say some shots even look better in the manga due to the detail and black and white). Either way though you'll enjoy it

I don't really agree with that read, Gabimaru's characterization has been pretty consistent. He was raised a killer, but actually has feelings and hates killing, but is in a situation which requires it. He's hesitant to kill Sagiri because she's a good person, unlike most of the other criminals he took out. I will reccomend sticking with it a longer though, mild spoiler: no one introduced is actually op. They haven't even gotten to the real island stuff. it gets wild
