Me personally I think that the sword in the doll is tanjiro's sword. Since he made it be most likely could break it down and put it back together. Since he wanted to be able defeat the doll but couldn't so he put the sword in there for anyone, most likely his son, to break it and get the sword to kill him with it.

But for the most part, its very innocuous and doesn't give anything away AT ALL. I reread after each episode to see if they change stuff or how many chapters they put together in an episode and trust....it's surface level material in the opening.

The "inherited memories" Kotetsu explained is actually somewhat based in reality, so it does kinda exist. When species adapt, they inherit the "memories" or experiences of their predecessors. Scientists have done tests with animals that confront them with various tasks. These animals then had children which were then seperated from the previous generation. Idk, there seems to be a pretty clear difference in appearance between Tanjuro and Yoriichi. Try something called Google Images, I hear that helps. Also paying attention to attire could probably help tell the difference. Characters don't change their outfits much or at all in this type of anime. KOKUSHIBO (Upper One) was wearing purple. YORIICHI Type Zero is wearing red. There's definitely a difference there. Also, Kokushibo does not have hanfuda earrings. Their voices are also completely different.

@danial javady I have to hard disagree about Tengen > Tokito. First off Rengoku never said anything about Tengen's master swordsmanship, he said that his swordsmanship was a thing of beauty. Tengen basically said he couldn't be like Rengoku and Rengoku said you don't have to be me, just be you. Also in the demon slayer corps the most important aspect for a demon slayer is their swordsmanship and Tokito is known as a prodigy because of his skills. Even though physically Tengen is stronger, I still put Tokito > Tengen due to his sword skills. I would say more but I would be in manga territory.

That’s fair, but we are on season 3 and with hindsight and knowing how pretty accurate the opening to story beats were one would just assume “yeah that’s the way it is”. Personally as someone who read this arc the weapon choices and demon skills of some of our new gang was a pretty nice surprise and I assume will be for the Roshi and crew as well. Also they tend to speculate a lot and could see them easily see them theorizing off some parts of the OP. Just like the AoT OP that showed the rumbling, somethings just hit harder seeing it for the first time, instead of your brain going “oh that’s what that part in the OP meant” subconsciously.

That's not what he said. He said, in response to Gyutaro and Daki, that he wasn't handed things for free and that he had nothing but suffered that led to his development. In comparison, the Mist Hashira did not. He was talking about how traumatic, and bloodied his life was. Also, Tengen > Mist. Like overwhelmingly so, at this point in the story. Last season there was even a scene where Rengoku said he could never be like Tengen due to his master swordsmanship. Tengen is canonically the fastest hashira, and second strongest physically as well(you can confirm this with the databooks) Had the Mist hashira been the one instead of Tengen fighting Gyutaro, the anime would've have ended because he would've stood absolutely no chance vs Gyutaro.

At the end of the day it's a give and take relationship. Demon slayers are there to kill demons and the swordsmiths are there to give the demon slayers the tools to do their job. If there were no demon slayers then eventually the demons would just go after everyone including the swordsmiths so they have to make sure they make top quality weapons for their own sake as well even if demon slayers treat them like shit.

Buddy was right that swordsmiths only make the weapons, but without the smiths, the Demon Slayers couldn't do much to demons really. I wouldn't be talking shit to someone that makes my weapons, it would suck for a Demon to appear and your sword conveniently crumples in the sheathe.
