The Yeonjii arc is finished. The office arc is also finished and this is business trip arc.
Here is sneek peek of the work.
It was my first business trip, so I felt a little nervous as I rode in the car with my team leader. We were heading down to the provinces.
The reason for the trip was that a major client had suddenly changed their stance and was trying to demand a higher price for the goods, so we needed to renegotiate.
It was quite inconvenient for us since the client acted as if they didn’t care, but we desperately needed their supplies for our current project. We had no choice but to comply.
“Haa… Once this deal is over, I’m going to cut ties and find another supplier.”
“Isn’t it an important client?”
“It is important, but it’s not like there’s no alternative. Once this project is done, we can switch to another supplier without any problems.”
“I see… Does this kind of thing happen often?”
“Well… it happens sometimes. Usually, we’re the ones in a position of power, so it doesn’t happen often. But occasionally, when there’s a change within their company, it occurs.”
“A change?”
“Usually when the factory or company is passed down to the children.”
“Ah…”
It was a brief explanation, but I could easily understand what the team leader meant.
When a company that has been doing business smoothly suddenly makes major changes or demands, it usually happens when the owner changes.
The previous owner had maintained a reasonable approach and kept the business relationship for the long term. But when their children or someone else took over, they often made unreasonable demands like this.
It seemed that once they assumed the owner’s position, they became greedy. Without properly understanding their role, they acted like bullies toward their clients, just as they might with their own subordinates.
This time, it was the same case. The son, who hadn’t been in charge for long, insisted on raising the price of the goods.
Apparently, he had heard somewhere that we desperately needed their products at the moment. That left us no choice but to comply this time, though we had already scheduled a meeting with the intention of cutting ties afterward.
“Haa… It’s frustrating to see that they don’t understand they shouldn’t act like this just because they think they have the upper hand.”
The team leader, who was organizing the documents, understood the situation as well. She sighed, thinking about the client’s owner.
They were only focused on making a quick profit and weren’t considering the problems that might arise later. We had no intention of continuing business with them for long.
With a sigh, we headed to the company that was trying to bully us.
…
…
“No, but!…”
“Hey… we can’t do it at that price.”
After driving for several hours, we arrived at the company and began the meeting. As expected, the owner acted as if he didn’t care and tried to raise the price, so the voices grew louder. In the end, we agreed to adjust the price this time.
The owner, thinking he had won, smiled broadly and looked at us with satisfaction. We left, planning to finalize the contract the next day, and headed to the hotel we had booked.
“Haa… It’s been a while since I’ve felt this tired.”
“I know…”
The team leader had mostly led the conversation, trying to maintain the original price. But the owner ignored her and forced the price up. We were so exhausted that we eventually agreed to their terms.
“Would you like to have a drink before we go to the hotel?”
“A drink? Yes, I’d like that.”
The team leader seemed to want a drink, probably to relieve the stress from negotiating with the company owner. So, we skipped the hotel and went to a nearby bar.
“I don’t think they’ll last much longer.”
“With that attitude, they won’t…”
If they were raising prices recklessly with a large company like ours, they were probably doing the same with other clients. It seemed likely that the company wouldn’t survive for long.
And that thought proved correct. They were so greedy that they constantly tried to raise or lower prices with other companies. They didn’t even last a few years before disappearing without a trace.
…
…
“Let’s stop talking about work and just drink and relax.”
“Hehe… Thank you, Joohyun.”
We went to a quiet bar nearby. The team leader, who was drinking quite quickly, seemed a little drunk.
That indirectly showed how stressed she had been today.
‘Well… even I was annoyed just watching from the side.’
The team leader subtly brought up the future of the deal and hinted that we could cut ties if things continued like this. But the young owner ignored her and insisted on his way. In the end, we decided to end the deal after this one.
“So, how are you and… Yeonji doing these days?”
“We’re doing great.”
“R-really… Isn’t that a little too loud to talk about? ”
It might have seemed like I was being too rude about my girlfriend. But given my relationship with the team leader, we could talk about things like this without hesitation.
“When I told her yesterday that I was going on a business trip with you, she told me to go all out.”
“I never thought I’d be in a relationship like this”
Enjoy!!
