It was a stunning day.
My comrades and I--having only 6 weeks earlier gotten together out of anger and frustration at the continued refusal of the German government to re-legalize our work--marched across Berlin with about 300 other sex workers and allies.
For those brief few hours, we occupied the streets, in all our bare-assed glory.
And I got to perform. For my sex-worker siblings, I adapted a section from "The Bridge to St. Nizier," which debuted in December. (Watch the original version here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/performance-to-32496138)
It was the loudest, best audience an artist can hope for. I can't even describe what I felt, dancing this piece that I made when planning my move to Germany almost a year later after all the tribulations that have rocked my little boat since; and being SEEN by my new Berlin family, all of whom understand immigration and illegality and the pain of leaving sisters behind for a better life in a different world.
My performer's soul is revived.
Enjoy.
Fondly,
Ernestine
