So today were gonna go over a quick tip. Mouse scaling in Ableton.
Ever noticed in Ableton your DPI (Mouse speed) Is perfect, but when your zooming in the overview bar in arrangement mode or touching anything its incredibly fast?
Thats because the DPI scaling of ableton is not set correctly, this is something they left out of the manual and its annoying af.
The first part of this video shows exactly what you do, up until you get into the COMPATIBILTY OPTIONS. SO get to there, then folllow these steps as Windows 10 looks a little different, so heres what you do in a few easy steps :
STEP 1 - When you get to this point you want to make sure at the bottom of the compatibility tab that your are RUNNING IN ADMIN click this and it will change to CHANGE SETTINGS FOR ALL USERS. It may already say this, so just click through to change all user settings if so.
STEP 2 - The same panel will appear, but now your in full user admin mode.
Once there click the CHANGE HIGH DPS SETTINGS button.
STEP 3 - Now finally, CHECK the bottom Box for Overide High DPI Scaling behaviour, and in the drop down menu below it select SYSTEM, then press apply. REMEMBER - IF THIS DOESNT WORK MAKE SURE YOUR IN ADMIN MODE AND CHANGING ALL USER SETTINGS.
FINAL STEP - you must RESTART Ableton in order this to take effect, and now your zooming in arrangement mode and faders will move at the same DPI As your system setting.
"BUT MY MOUSE IS TO FAST ALL THE TIME"
If youd like to change the DPI , go to control panel>mouse settings> Additional Mouse settings> Scroll Speed or change the DPI on your mouse software to a lower value.
And your done, I know this seems alot, but the workflow will be AMAZING afterwards because your movement will be much more natural and comfortable to work with instead of constantly over or under zooming because of the speed
Hope this helps someone <3
