Patreon Newsletter #36: October 2024

 From Arnie:

September blew by. At work we released the Jackbox Naughty Pack this month… AND announced a stand alone game we’re releasing next month, the Jackbox Survey Scramble (a game concept I pitched and Tim Sniffen directed… and some of you Patreon supporters unwittingly helped us make by filling out some surveys I posted in the discord over the summer that helped us test out the early prototype of the game).

TV – In no particular order. But that’s actually a lie, because the first three are incredible and if you’re not watching any of the three of them, you should! (Although, warning that there’s a lot of sex and drugs in Industry. And I suppose a lot of farting on Slow Horses.)

Movies – Best to less best.

(Video and Tabletop) Games

Balatro (on Switch AND on mobile)

Sushi Go

Nine Tile Panic

Appearances

All there of us were on an episode of Sleeping with Celebrities. We spend a lot of time talking about Jessica Tandy. Fall Asleep with the Gang from the Magic Tavern | Maximum Fun

 From Matt:

September 2024

This month has been challenging. Helping out family and just trying to keep up. As I write this, my birthday is still a few days away, but any celebrations will have to be postponed (more updates later).

Audio:

Listened to the first few eps of Victoriocity and am enjoying it. Music hasn’t changed BUT I did a quick search for Chappel Roan (just to hear what the kids are listening to) and it also recommended Laufey. I like them both, but I really like the modern jazzy vibe of Laufey. I still know nothing about their personal (Internet?) lives (and I’m keeping it that way).

TV/Movies/Web stuff:

Finally saw Good Omens (1 & 2). I enjoyed it but the situation was not ideal and I couldn’t hear the whole thing. Need to watch again. Also enjoying Supermarket Stakeout where chefs have to approach people as they leave the supermarket to buy groceries off of them and then cook something in the parking lot. It sounds nuts (and they talk a lot about how “kooky” it all is), but it’s just a cooking show. But a fun one.

Food:

I made meatballs and homemade red sauce. Thanks to listeners (readers) who sent in ideas. I used a couple of them and amalgamated my own thing with the help of Mark Bittman. It was a classic I had never made and wanted to add to my repertoire. Also made tofu and beef tacos in an attempt to use up some stuff in the fridge, but lost track of what all I threw in there which is a shame. They were good. Gochujang and honey in the tofu (I think?).

The horror movie thats a hit atm is The Substance with Demi Moore. “Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? You. Only better in every way. Seriously. You've got to try this new product. It's called The Substance. It Changed My Life.'' 😏

KittehhMeowWow

I just listened to the fall asleep podcast and it was amazing! Will have to check out more episodes

Sean Gaynor

Brian Jordan Alvarez is hilarious. Y’all should check out his Insta (and I guess TikTok but I don’t use that blasted app) for all his goofy weirdo personas he has lol. TJ Mack 2024!

Jordan Johnson

Can’t not love Bluey. You deserve smiting by Usidore if you aren’t charmed by it.

Never have farts and high stakes drama melded so well as they do on Slow Horses.

Honestly, if I had to list shows that I watched the most in September, Bluey would be up there. My toddler is obsessed, and it's honestly a great show. I find myself fully focused on it alongside him even when it's one of the episodes we've seen a million times lol
