Andrew is taking more proactive steps towards getting in the drivers seat of his life & he’s MUCH more likely to get closer towards the relationship our boys want if he continues along this path. (& who knows- maybe in whatever he wrote that’s in the library book he’ll spill his heart & we know Nathan is a sucker for crying & maybe it’ll work out like it does in the NSFW comics ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He's clearly not used to anyone fighting this hard to win him back after he cuts ties and it's a new feeling for him. After reading what's in that book, I think he'll be doing a lot of self reflecting and realize Andrew's the one worth putting in the effort for

However, Andrew is still a student, it's not like he barged into the gallery where Nathan works, that's his school too.

2024-12-13 20:39:06 +0000 UTCMaybe I’m being pedantic, but I think this is Andrew’s own way of trying to communicate. Additionally, there are multiple factors at play. 1) Nathan basically cut things off, which Andrew didn’t want. But Andrew is simultaneously trying to balance the distance that Nathan has set and deal with his own feelings (e.g. isolation and eventually reaching out to say what he wants to say via the book). 2) Andrew is a fantastic writer that got Nathan to initially like him/want to meet him by his written word alone. So he might feel more comfortable expressing himself that way. I just want to point out, that while I think it’s a valid point that verbal communication is important, thats not the only form of communication. Given that this is Andrew’s first relationship, which Nathan now knows after the fight, it’s not something that can be fixed in a short time. But it says volumes that he’s actually trying. People, imo, should be willing to meet each other halfway on communication. In time and with practice he’ll get better, but I can definitely understand the fear of saying something and maybe your facial expression or tone communicating something else that wasn’t intentional. Writing, takes out some of those more complicated, subtle skills.

EDIT: I looked back and when they first met Nathan was reading papers from last year's class (including Andrew) not current students, but lmk if I missed something!

He is really thoughtful 🥹 Going to places he connects with Nathan and even going so far to get THAT specific book 🥹 And I wholeheartedly believe that he actually did not think that far lol although it gave us a funny Nathan antenna moment 🙏🏻😅 I feel like Andrew showing up and telling Nathan, who still seems like he is on defense (which is understandable) - made Nathan think, gave him something new. His face at the end it just seems like the facial expression of someone hearing something for the first time. Especially when Andrew isn't just telling him he will do it, he is asking for it. Apart from that you did a great job to capture their current states in their appearances as well. Nathan seems more tired again, and even looks more closed off with his choice of clothing. And Andrew (who kinda looks like he is glowing, especially with the blushing) doesn't "dress to impress" Nathan, he just gives off a more comfortable vibe like he is fine with going to all the places, telling Nathan what's on his mind, giving him the book, etc. Like he really just wants to keep liking him, if he is allowed. It feels a bit like right now, although both are dealing with the disastrous events, Andrew is the more calm one, the one who is like a step ahead. Like Nathan is the one who needs to catch up now. Andrew just gives off a vibe like he knows now what to do, what he really wants. I can't explain it any better. (And both are honestly looking extra fine in today's chapter!!) Thank you Jui and your Team for the work! 🙏🏻💜💜

2024-12-13 19:41:33 +0000 UTCThis is exactly why I haven't been disparaging of Nathan throughout the previous arc. I never really saw him as pressuring Andrew unless "pressure" indicates "lack of constant reassurance." He's always been refreshingly upfront and honest about what he wants and needs. It's confusing when someone you care about is willing and eager to go further sexually but every time you match pace and take it a notch up, you're rejected, no matter how nicely. Regardless, going with Xu-an to his hotel, and then not even telling Andrew about it, is a shitty move, but I can definitely understand why. The conversation he had with his friends explained it perfectly. He felt like he kept failing and like Andrew was, for lack of better words, stringing him along. It must've felt so flattering for him to be wanted and pursued by a big contemporary artist, especially when the guy he was seeing kept rejecting him, and then physically PUSHED him away. But, gosh, just LOOK at Nathan in this episode, and you'll see. He's even paler than usual, and the way his eyes are drawn--they're so empty in every panel, even before Andrew is there. Of course, we're all sympathetic to Andrew because he's clearly going through a lot, which is even clearer after that beautiful flashback, but that's also an effect of us having the insight of Andrew's private thoughts and feelings. We rarely get to directly know what Nathan is thinking and feeling beyond what he says and his facial expressions, but he's also in so much pain right now. They're so fond of each other, and this break-up is killing them both. I can't state this enough-- Jui, this is truly beautifully done. These characters are so real and phenomenally written, and I'm so excited to see how they develop and grow.

I do feel like whatever he wanted Nathan to see in that book, it’s really going to make Nathan reflect on his behavior and choices. Not just towards Andrew, but in general when it comes to romantic partners. I don’t think Nathan is used to people fighting for him.
