I literally searched his page today for "np complete"

I have one problem for 2019,problem 6.Can you do that when you have time,Mr.Grant and can you do video about P=NP it will be pleasure to watch these kind of videos?

Do you have any favorite such problems?

Can you do video about number theory or IMO exams

Hey

Thanks so much!

Or have a moderator read the comments for you, so you can concentrate on the subject matter.

Hey Grant, this was really enjoyable to watch. It was refreshing seeing this derivation of such an everyday term (as an engineer, I use it quite often by the way :D) I have a few points which could in my opinion, improve the experience: - Slow down a bit. I can imagine, that you were too fast for some people. - Since this is a live stream, interact a bit with the chat and see if the majority got the point you made or if there is a question or whatever. That would also lead to a natural slow down. - Consider a platform change to e.g. twitch with a simpler chat management system. I dont know if you can make something like "slow mode" on youtube, so that everyone has to wait an amount of time to post again.

I appreciated the way you took the time to derive this version of the formula. Gives more confidence in the result than a quick show-off approach.

Bumping my pledge. This is the best investment in education I can make. Grant, please do more of these: our kids need a next gen content.

Mr. Duck

Oh, for sure there are those who use it, no question. What would you guess the ratio is between people who are taught the quadratic formula (at some point in school) and those who use it (at some point after school)?

Heh. 69.

Very useful. I did notice however that the audio seems strangely out of sync with the video. The audio seems slightly ahead of the video, which is just a bit disconcerting... or is it just me?

Actually, I am surprised you think the quadratic formula will not be used very much outside of the classroom. I use it alot. And other people do as well, but just indirectly as many algorithms use it. If you optimize something, it was probably used somewhere in the calculation. I have needed it to solve problems in robotics. Anyone in design might need it at some point. And CAD systems rely on it at times. I think the proper answer is you will use it more than you think. The only reason you may not need it is because you are trying to find the roots of a higher order polynomial instead. So you use it in spirit. Oh, and the ray tracing problem is more common than you think. It is not just for rendering, but simulating sensors, and point cloud generation (think LIDAR) all use a form of it. Again, I do not work at PIXAR yet I use ray casting (the basic element of ray tracing) in my day job.

Doesn't the discriminant do the same thing?

Thanks so much!

Doubling my pledge. Worth every penny

Really enjoyed seeing you take your passion and skill at explaining concepts into a new format. Your videos were a large part of how I discovered my love for mathematics and I'm now seriously considering studying it at university when I never would have even thought of that a year ago. Thanks so much and I look forward to the rest of your livestreams!

Thanks Westley. This is all very new to me, but I hope students find it helpful.

Very fun to watch. It's great to see someone so passionate about people caring about math and not caring if things break down. It felt like a conversation then a lecture and it's a refreshing break from traditional classes. Thank you for what you do!
