For myself, it was fighting games, I was always put off by the combos and competitiveness but always loved the ideas of lore, characters and stages. Pretty much anyone can be "quilty" of focusing much more on how a game could be so much better (in their opinion) but that could blind them of the great things that ARE in the game.
