So there’s a bit more to NFTs that hasn’t been mentioned here. If an artist mints an NFT embeded within it can be all sorts of “rules”. Ethereum allows for the use of “smart contracts” which are essentially a set of rules that are set to execute when a given contract is interacted with. These rules can be embeded into an NFT artwork, music, whatever: “if this is traded/sold on the market the creator gets X%”. There are no middle men , or underground sales. Every single little thing done with the NFT can also be viewed within the blockchain. It essentially provides the ability to see the entire “life” of that NFT. NFTs can also be tied to REAL world assets. When you bring RFID blockchain technology (which exists and has investors like BMW and DNVGL) it allows for verification of an item and that same level of tracking via RFID that’s tied to the blockchain. This can limit and prevent counterfeit items from being passed off as real. Because you can’t fool the blockchain. It’s going to have some really incredible implications. And some terrifying ones. With all that said There is a lot of hype and there will inevitably be some level of crash. The question is how big does it get before that , and what comes out of it.
