Remember how "Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker" got split into two versions because of censorship? Well, do you remember WHY that happened? *Joker hand buzzer noise* WRONG!

What Killed Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker? What Killed Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker?

That's actually a pretty cool idea. I'd even go as far as to have Bruce still in a coma or even dead, and Dick takes over from there as Terry's mentor / eyes and ears. Maybe not that far, but still. I do think it might take too much away from the Bruce/Terry/Tim (Joker) interactions we did get in that final fight scene, and come out of left field a little bit, but one of those "in hindsight, it would've been cool" things, for sure.

I wanted to comeback for another comment and lay two ideas down for this movie knowing everything now, 1. Put it on tv as the censored cut, but in episodic format like WF. 2. Add somethings in even if this movie is a masterpiece for the tv version (mainly adding Nightwing and pulling from Earth 12 continuity despite it not existing yet) in the scene after Barbara says Dick would have a lot to say about Bruce, picture this scene: Terry sits at the batcomputer petting Ace in distress, while feeling defeated. Terry: “I don’t know pup, if I were the Batman I were supposed to be I wouldve cracked this by now, would’ve punched exactly the right data into the computer or remembered that one little clue that everyone else overlooked.” Instead of Bruce, an unfamiliar voice speaks to Terry from the doorway. Dick: Trust me kid there’s more to the mission than meets the eye. Terry: You’re..? You’re Dick Grayson aren’t you? Dick: Nice to finally meet you Terry, I’m sorry it has to be under these circumstances. Terry: I never knew how hard this job can be. Dick: There’s good days and bad days (Dick smirks). Now it’s time to get back to work, you’re going to need help. Terry: I know what happened to Tim Drake, Barbara told me everything. Dick: Yeah, not being there for them is one of my many regrets. Terry: I don’t get it though, or Bruce. know you were the original Robin and all, but that’s not me. I was never a Robin. Terry looks at the smashed cases and puts the pieces together. Terry: Joker smashed up the cases, but why was this the only costume he went out of his way to destroy? Dick: Well he was always petty. Terry: A ghost out for revenge? I don’t buy it. I talked to Drake, he’s got less love for that costume than the Joker. I think somehow he’s behind this. Dick: Tim was always a good kid, there’s no way he’d do this. Terry: Let’s look at everything the Jokerz have stolen. Now let’s put it use in something someone like Tim Drake would understand. Dick: This.. this is… (Dick gets a determined look on his face) Take the batmobile and go. I will be your eyes and ears from here. Terry: Bruce told me to drop it. Dick: He’s told me a lot of things over the years. Terry: There is one thing I do want to take with me. (Both Terry and Dick look at Ace) The rest of the movie plays out basically the same way. However before Tim’s transfer into the Joker, he says to Dick: Tim: Hey Dick, welcome back. You came back at “Happy” time. Tim transforms and everything plays out the exact same way. Terry: He’s tough, any suggestions Dick? Dick: Joker has always liked to talk, ignore him and focus. Terry: Wait I like to talk too. The fight finished the same way. Cut to the hospital when Terry comes into the room with Dick and Barbara at Tim’s bedside. Tim: You didn’t have to cover for me Barb. Barbara: The Joker’s gone Tim. You weee just along for the ride. Dick: Somebody had to come and watch your back. The room scene continues with the same dialogue until Terry leaves and sees Bruce. Terry: Mr. Wayne? How are you feeling? Lousy, but I’ll live.” Terry turns to walk away with a half smile, but Bruce stops him and gives him the same speech and the movies finishes the same way as it does, however has Dick in the room when Bruce walks in too. And finishing with Terry putting on the mask and flying away to protect Neo Gotham once more.

I loved the video since Batman Beyond is my favorite DCAU show, but first of all, I wanted to give kudos to the people who wrote the Ad in this video. You found a way to make it work organically with the rest of the content and to hook me up about the product. Good job to everyone who worked on it! About the different versions, the canon version for me is the one where Tim intentionally kills the Joker with a gun, but before I knew about the Uncut Version, I had understood that Joker being electrocuted was in fact part of his plan since the beginning, to 'complete' the mind transfer from his brain to Tim's, similar to Ra's when tried to transfer his mind to Bruce (at the end, lighting bolts and chemicals are an excuse for many things in DC Universe, so why not?). Anyway, I was 11 when I got this theory on my mind but even though I know that's not true, I though would be nice to share how further a fan mind could go to make sense of all this hahaha
