Nightmare Kart DLC dev update 2024/7/31

Finished the model and texture for the new DLC character, Viktor for today's Nightmare Kart dev post!

While Nightmare Kart is legally distinct now, it being a Bloodborne fan game is core to its identity, and therefore I wanted to pull from it as a direct inspiration, even though I don't necessarily need to anymore. That being said, I did combine multiple Bloodborne characters together (Alfred and Valtr, specifically) instead of making a direct 'knock off' like the other existing characters.

Speaking of inspirations from Bloodborne, Valtr was a 'gentleman' type character, with a prim and proper outfit, matching personality, and a cane. I loved the cane idea, and the entire 'high society' vibe from Bloodborne that didn't really make it into Nightmare kart (primarily becuase I changed the cane whip into a sword whip), so I wanted to underline that with this character. Because of this, I wanted to design a few cane weapons.

I mentioned in a previous dev post that I wanted an æther powered sniper rifle, similar to the noble pistol, so I decided to make it into a transforming gentlemans cane.

For his kart, I wanted to draw from one of the original concept sketches that Mino made at the start of this games development:

 

The segway kart is a really fun and funny idea, and its unique design would stand out from the other karts. Also, one of the Bloodborne weapons is a giant wheel that splits apart, so the idea of sticking a cane between them to make a segway fits in perfectly. I also like the idea that Viktor simply carries his kart with him at all times.

Also, one last thing, I gave him period accurate heels ❤️️
