VOTE: Pick the next playthrough!

**UPDATE: We have a clear winner! Polls are closed on this vote now, but fear not, we'll have another bonus playthrough game to pick very soon!

-------------------------------------------

The suggestions are in, the candidates are chosen and now it's voting time!

The Candidates

Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights  (trailer)  (one-off episode)

I did a one-off of this one on a channel a few years ago and it was neat! And it just got a sequel that is apparently even better, so it might be worth us finally diving all the way into this one.

Pyre  (trailer)

Basically the only (fully released) Supergiant game we haven't played on the channel. Some of y'all have been trying to make this one happen as a bonus playthrough for literal years.

Everhood 2  (trailer)  (Everhood 1 playthrough)

It just came out! I played the previous game on the channel a few years back, and I am always going to be down for a great rhythm game, especially one with this much chaotic energy.

Death's Door  (trailer)  (one-off episode)

I did a one-off of this one years back too and it was great! Kinda like Tunic, but with considerably fewer puzzles and considerably more birb.

Hitman: World of Assassination  (trailer)

I've been meaning to do a playthrough of these murder-comedy games for years, and now the latest trilogy is all in a convenient bundle! I'm guessing we'd probably just start with the contents of Hitman 1? We'll see!

Lies of P  (trailer)

I've heard enough good things about this Soulslike from enough people that it's clear I need to make time for it. And I've been wanting to play some more non-From Souls-y games on the channel anyhow.

Horizon Forbidden West  (trailer)  (Horizon Zero Dawn playthrough)

Horizon Zero Dawn was the first bonus playthrough y'all selected when this Patreon began! I've been slow in getting around to the sequel, but perhaps now is the time.

Animal Well  (trailer)

I have heard nothing but good things about this indie puzzle metroidvania. The rabbit hole on this one apparently goes very deep indeed.

Wanderstop  (trailer)

Comes out in a few days! This is the latest game from Davey Wreden (The Stanley Parable, The Beginner's Guide) and I am very excited to see what he's been cooking.

Star War Jedi: Survivor  (trailer)  (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order playthrough)

I played the first one years back and had a great time! I'd be very down to go back for the sequel.

Princess Peach Showtime!  (trailer)

This looks adorable, and sometimes that's enough!

Metroid Prime Remastered  (trailer)

I haven't played a Metroid Prime in years and this remaster sounded fantastic. Perhaps it's time for a revisit!

Nine Sols  (trailer)

Another 2D souls-y (or Sekiro-y?) metroidvania, and this one is apparently hard as nails! But Jacob Geller keeps singing its praises, and the man has exceptional taste. How hard could it be?

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker  (trailer)

It is weird that I still haven't done a proper Zelda game playthrough on the channel yet.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night  (trailer)

I haven't played this in so long that I've basically forgotten everything. Perhaps its time for a refresher?

Vote Time!

As always, you can choose multiple options, so click on all the games you're most interested in. I'm excited to see what y'all pick!

Comments

Wind Waker is so good and it's got such a cool vibe, would love to watch that one!

Scruff

I would love to see Lies of P at some point, but Wind Waker winning would also be a treat! Im fairly new to the channel, have you ever played or considered playing Dishonored? I was playing a Ghost run the other day and wondered 🤔

Denari

I love LoZ and I think Dan would love the windwaker!

Gaymer 2013

Agreed. The story themselves is played straight but there's meant to be a sort of satirical catharsis in 47 taking out these awful, awful people in a variety of silly ways. (Ironically one of my favourites from Hitman 1 is probably the one that subverts it the most)

Garry Lennon

I hope the Princess Peach Showtime at least makes it into the holiday rotation if it doesn't get it's own playthrough soon. Also, Dan I would love to see you and Carrie play 'Unravel Two' at some point. Super fun game mechanics and cute animation style.

Pyrat Penguin

I've found with the previous MH playthroughs that view counts are just always very low on those games across the board, so I think it makes sense to just play that on our own (or stream it occasionally) and free up the slot for something else :P

PlayFrame

Maybe he's waiting to play it on Saturdays with Jones?

Seth Jones

Yeah. Makes sense to play Death's Door. It's kind of on brand. Just (Dead) Crow Things.

Seth Jones

I have seen allll of the twitch stuff, but that was months ago, I'm thirsty for mooore! xD

Myr Lune

Oh no! I really hoped you'd love this game as much as I do... I do get your point about the story and the characters tho (at least in the beginning of the game); And I probably underestimated the length of a full playthrough. I'll not give up dreaming of one tho, because I love this game (especially the music and artstyle). So I'll keep recommending it, if that's okay 😊

neutronstarmerger

Well, yeah, it certainly has a humorous side to it when you replay it, but the story in the first playthrough I would not describe as comedy. And in fact playing it for the first time as comedy kind of breaks the immersion. Also I don't understand why you describe the "seriousness" as "surface level". I mean yeah, it's not exactly Shakespear, but the story is actually dramatic. I just hope you don't have the wrong impression of the game. I mean, would you describe Elden Ring as comedy just because you can do silly things there? P.S. To be fair, I did grow up with original "Hitman: Codename 47" being one of my most favorite games of all time, so I am biased and kind of defensive about the story.

DemoniacDeath

Genuinely surprised that Monster Hunter Wilds isn't automatically the next playthrough. Is Dan planning something else with it....?

Domadet

Despite its violence and surface level seriousness, the quantity of absurd assassination methods, costumes and scenarios they hand the player in each level suggests to me that the dark comedy players get up to in these sandboxes is very much by design

PlayFrame

So I did play the first 4-5 hours on my own time last year, and lots of their gameplay systems ARE really cool! But the narrative side of things felt kinda flat, and it's hard to commit to a giant turn-based RPG when the story and characters aren't grabbing me. Which isn't to say it will NEVER happen, just that I'm not 100% sold on it currently

PlayFrame

Pyre has a good chance I see. Fingers crossed

JD

I hope one day to see Dan play Sea of Stars. I know I've said it before. I just know he would enjoy it 😊

neutronstarmerger

The horror elements are mostly in brief flashbacks & cutscenes, the core gameplay is solidly metroidvania-y (imho). I obviously don't know how susceptible you are to gore and creepy imagery, but if the answer isn't "debilitatingly", I wouldn't let that turn you off from the game entirely.

Patrick Carter

Don’t get me wrong, when I’m playing the game love that love it. It’s just you know it’s a lot of time to put in a let’s play video

DK

Blast that extremely pleasant theme music loud, and we all just sit and chill for a while

Anja Boskovic

Have you been following the PlayFrame twitch? There has been so much Pokemon there!

Anja Boskovic

too many good choices!

Gatlin Burnside

Yes definitely want to wait for that stable 30fps lol. I agree, good call, memes aside.

Myr Lune

I'm sorry, in what way is Hitman a "comedy"? People make comedic videos of it on YouTube, sure, but the game itself is quite brutal.

DemoniacDeath

SO MANY good choices!

Robert Calhoun

Pyre is legitimately one of my favorite games and I really hope you get around to it eventually (it seems like it's not quite gonna win this poll)

Nemenya

Bet you a Coke that if you play Wind Waker, then the HD re-release will get announced as a Switch 2 launch title

Nicholas Ehlers

If/when we get to Gen 9, I'm thinking it would be after the Switch 2's release, if only for the possibility of better performance

PlayFrame

Dan also streamed some of Wind Waker, so to see the rest I gotta put a vote in for "is boat?"

Naruhoodie

Every time I realize that there is no full Zelda playthrough on the channel it is shocking. Hopefully the Patrons will remedy this shortly.

Matthew Coleman

No hope for Pokemon gen 9 story playthrough? Been a little light on Pokemon from this channel for a while now actually..

Myr Lune

Legally obligated to vote for both Ender Lilies and Princess Peach Showtime. Also for the record, imho you could totally play Ender Magnolia before Lilies and it would be fine. I think both games are equal in quality overall, they just have different strengths. But plot-wise I think you'd be good

M Yen

Tried the Wanderstop demo and omg it is one heck of a thing. Cried three times. Don’t think it’s winning but highly suggest people check it out.

Sara Winters

I want wind waker just to see what fun Dan thing would do about the copious amount of sailing where nothing of note happens

DK

Someone I know who played Nine Sols warned me off from it, describing it as "a horror game wearing hollow knight clothing." It gets disturbing, much more so than a dark souls title. She absolutely adored it though. So um, yea. Personally I'm hoping for Wind Waker! It's about time Playframe did a Zelda and it is absolutely the best one to start with!

MayImilae

If you do Castlevania, please take your time with it, and at least TRY to get some of the weapons comments will be begging to see. Think "Fashion Souls" and put your heart into it!

Benjamin Siegfried

Pretty much! Guaranteed at some point.

PlayFrame

This is perhaps the most stacked list I've ever seen for one of these polls. I don't think I've seen Dan play a sim on the channel so World of Assassination could be good fun. Animal Well is full of the kinds of puzzling that made Tunic sure an interesting playthrough. And nine Sols is easily the best metroidvania I've played after Hollow Knight, with stunning art and the greatest focus on narrative I've seen from one of these games.

Natasha Slatten

Is the shovel knight series still in “going to happen just when the timing is good” section?

Preston Poirier

I have played it! It was a loooooong time ago, so my memory of most of it is quite hazy, but yeah it wouldn't be a completely fresh first-time experience

PlayFrame

Nine Sols is incredible (and I feel like it's the kind of game Dan would enjoy as well) so it gets (one of) my vote(s). It's probably one of the first soulsy-metroidvanias I'd recommend, only second to hollow knight, and only because hollow knight is a better all-rounder. Heck, I was even re-fighting some of its bosses last week because they're just that good. (I finished the game half a year ago, and suddenly felt like "actually, I miss fighting those bosses, I'll fight them again"; I usually almost never do that). However, a caveat: it's less family friendly than the average game on playframe. Nothing *too* extreme, but there is gore (albeit cartoony depictions of it), and some mildly disturbing content. Again though, it's very good. It has flaws like many other games, but is high quality overall and has some really, *really*, strong points.

Olxinos

I was strongly considering nominating Wind Waker, it's my fav Zelda and a huge nostalgia game for me, but I thought "huh, Dan doesn't really do main zelda games on the channel huh?" And decided to promote something modern and more niche instead. So glad to see WW made the list regardless!

Space_Turbulence

Given the last Astrobot episode, you should have added Legacy of Kaine and Soul Reaver, 'cause you really missed out never playing them.

Steve Jakab

I'm curious about whether you've played WindWaker before? I tend to enjoy watching first-time experiences, so that might sway my vote one way or the other. Either way, I think Animal Well and Princess Peach would make really compelling watching for very different reasons, and Hitman has the potential to be very funny.

The Furies

Tons of great choices, but my front runner is forbidden west. It’s an excellent sequel that really builds on the world of the first game, and I feel like Dan really clicked with Aloy.

Kevin Lewis

Instant vote for Windwaker!

twilightoath

We'll get to it someday!

PlayFrame

Would absolutely love a WindWaker playthrough!

Momodashii

I second this!

Momodashii

I think Animal Well might make an excellent Carrie playthrough because it's very puzzle based.

Evie Deles

Aww, I can't see Hitman winning this but I think it's genre of played straight wacky circumstances would be *so good* on PlayFrame.

Askwho

*Slammed the vote button for Windwaker*

Anja Boskovic

Hoping Pyre finally has its moment! Or that even if it doesn't win that Dan will still have pity on those who have tried for years to get it played and slot it in the schedule somewhere anyway!

Nazrax

Symphony would be awesome!

Matthew Mahar

I was just listening to Pyre music, so this must be fate.

Nicholas S.

Aw my 13 Sentinels pick didn’t make it through, ah well lots of stuff to choose from. Pulling for Horizon for sure as it’s something I’ve been desperately wanting ya to get to for years now. Also you’ve played Tunic so I would argue that you have basically played one of the best Zelda games on the channel lol

Jordan Glazer

I voted for a couple, but I would make a super vote for Wind Waker!

Covo375

Dan isn't exaggerating. Pyre has been in the running for MANY, MANY years, and a general history of being overshadowed even (and especially!) by its own Supergiant siblings. Hoping this vote will be kinder to it!

Quill

So many good choices!

Joshua

I think you'd have an absolute blast in Animal Well, the hard part will be figuring out how deep you really want to go!

Tim Hawkins

Spoiled for choice!

Eric Ziegler

Save princess peach for Christmas! 🎄
