That's not what happened ๐ญโ He finished the manga by taking his time and doing things properly with a good conclusion, two years after the anime. After Akame ga kill ended, he continued and finished the prequel and even made a sequel, which was cancelled after 5 years due to poor sales. (It's a shame because I liked the direction he was taking). Yes, he worked on other things during this period but it didn't affect his other work btw he's not even the one drawing lol none of his manga is drawn by him.
