Once that is done, the vessel then assumes the exact same appearance of the person whose soul was summoned. The personality traits of the reanimated shinobi can be manipulated at will by the caster, they can suppress It or totally unleash It using a kunai knife with some kind of sealing tag attached to It and placed at the back of the neck. This is essentially how It works. And yes, all the memories, personality traits, mannerisms/quirks and, as you guys witnessed in this episode, even the power that the summoned soul once had when It was still alive are fully restored inside the vessel. This Jutsu is really fu*$#&@ OP. Edit: I forgot to mention a key information... To bring back someone's soul back to the living world, the caster of the Jutsu is going to need the DNA, a tissue from the dead body of the person they intend to "revive" to act as a catalyst for the soul. It can be anything, from a hair strand to a peace of skin or a finger nail.

Although Deidara is indeed from the hidden stone village, all shinobi who have been branded as traitors by their village is known in other villages to be dangerous, although it usually is their own village that is tasked to capture or kill them. What i mean is, even if Deidara wasnt from the stone...it would not be weird if a Kage recognizes a criminal from another village. Take sauske for example...they might not know his abilities but everyone knows his name and what he has done. All akatsuki as a matter of fact

The first and second hokage had their personalities, but their actions were controlled by orochimarus will. Also the statue is the one pain summons, and yes deidara is from the stone village.

Naruto and Bee have been selected to sit it out. Without knowing the full strength of both sides, I do agree with Ron here that Madara's side seems FAR stronger.

2024-06-06 00:43:48 +0000 UTCUnfortunately, back then they didn't recognize that the statue Nagato summoned during his flashback was the same statue the Akatsuki used to extract the Jinchûriki, and I don't think they read the comments explaining the whole Gedo statue thing (remember they were also confused later on about Madara wanting to "link" sasuke to the Gedo statue like the other akatsuki members, they didn't know what the "gedo statue" was). That's a bit unfortunate, but yes, it makes sense that they would not remember today since they didn't know what it was back then :)
