Roger's Era. You are either sanctioned to be one by collective agreement/recognition from all other Yonkos in the pirate world, or beat a previous one and take their title.

Just clarification - this was already mentioned in previous episodes so it's not a spoiler. Blackbeard used to be under Whitebeard. He killed a crew mate and ran away. Ace who is under Whitebeard (2nd Chief Commander) is after Blackbeard because of what he did Also, with Mihawk. He is a warlord, but he's just saying that for the meeting that they were called to, he's just there to observe, not really make a decision or anything like that

Bounties are based on how big of a threat they are to the WorldGovernment. Luffy defeated Crocodile who was a warlord. Luffy's bounty had to be higher than Crocodile's bounty. But the Marines could only use the bounty amount set for Crocodile right before he became a warlord. Crocodile might have become stronger since. In fact, you can believe that Luffy's real bounty should have been higher. Given that Luffy could defeat Bellamy with just ONE punch. Also we have the GOAT, Whitebeard!!! The world strongest man! And Ace is part of his crew. Blackbeard used to be a Whitebeard crew but he killed a crewmate and ran. Ace is after Blackbeard. Also Mihawk is a Warlord.

Ace is Whitebeard’s second division captain. Famous pirates often have many fleets and Ace heads the second strongest (he is the number 3 on the whitebeard crew since the first division commander is stronger). Ace is hunting Blackbeard who used to be under Ace’s division ON Whitebeard’s crew. Blackbeard murdered his crewmate and left the Whitebeard pirates and that is why Ace is hunting Blackbeard - for revenge for his fallen crewmate. Shanks (Red Haired) warned Whitebeard that Ace should stop hunting him because Blackbeard is dangerous. Whitebeard told Shank’s messenger (Rockstar) to fuck off basically and to tell Shanks if he wants to talk come in person (which is huge considering Whitebeard was Gol D. Rogers rival and is the strongest living pirate). The five elders make all the decisions behind the scenes for the world government. They fear Shanks but only when he is agitated for some reasons. Even the possibility of Whitebeard and Shanks teaming up is bad news for them because they require the Marines and ALL the warlords to keep balance of the world since such strong pirates exist (Whitebeard, Shanks, others you will meet and learn more later). It is heavily implied that they are as/more powerful than warlords. Sengoku is the Highest in Command of the Marines/Navy he is at the top of the navy and only is superseded by the elders. Sengoku is at the top of the navy thats why he summoned the warlords to discuss possible replacements for Crocodile. Mihawk is a warlord, the dialogue was confusing there but Sengoku was worried Mihawk had other motives, he is 100% still a warlord. Blackbeard was recommended by his crew mate Lafitte and their plan is seemingly to bring a strong pirate as tribute for the government. After these episodes 5 warlords have been named (4 still active; Mihawk, Jinbe- a fishman like Arlong mentioned early on, Doflamingo, Kuma and Crocodile who is now inactive). Lots of info. You will see why One Piece is the goat soon. I will always be here to clear up everything without any spoilers 🙏🏾

The thing u have to remember is Luffy took down crocodile and the marines know that but they don’t want the public to know that so they can’t increase his bounty too much without the citizens wondering y. As far as the public is concerned Luffy was just a pirate who got away at Alabasta. They intentionally keep his bounty lower than it should be cuz they don’t want the public catching on to the fact Luffy isn’t actually doing anything wrong.

In the scene where he receives his bounty, they explain that it was the combination of his exploits and his strength that made them think he was too much for the East Blue Navy to handle (+ with the Morgan case they knew he was bold enough to challenge the Navy directly). They agreed that he was a “bad root that had to be cut out very quickly”.

Actually, your reasoning would have made perfect sense. The thing is, Arlong wasn't working with the navy, only with Nezumi. We even see other marines trying to attack him and Nezumi trying to avoid being seen with Arlong. The reason Arlong wasn't chased by the Navy is that he'd already destroyed several of their ships (in Nami's flashback) + he was on an isolated island in East Blue so they didn't care enough to lose more resources. So not because he was working with them.

that's not why Luffy got his bounty. Arlong wasn't doing business with the Govt. Only with Nezumi. He got pissed and reported to the Navy that Luffy beat Arlong, the strongest pirate in the East Blue + they knew he beat Morgan (maybe also Krieg and Baggy) so they considered he was dangerous.

White beard and red hair aka shanks are the most powerful pirates in one piece they are just regular pirates who oppose the Govt. While the pirate warlords work for the Govt in exchange for no interference in their own respective activities in their respective territories which is also why many of the common folk are afraid of the marines and the Govt because the Govt. Doesn't serve them but rather dictates terms for them case in point in alabasta the Govt. Banned cloud seeding cause anyone who can provide rain had power and control which they only want for themselves....coming back to the bounty it depends on how much a pirates activity can shift the power dynamics of the world and cause the Govt to lose control Luffy got a bounty initially because he defeated Arlong who was doing business with the Govt the bounty then increased because he defeated crocodile who is basically a representative of the Govt in the grand line and his absence has created a power vacuum which the Govt needs to fullfill.....Also the reason why the don't want white beard and shanks meeting is because the Govt. Prefers disunity in the pirate community which helps them keep the control and prevent any sort of revolution

Bounties can be based off strength but it’s mainly always based on how much of a threat a person is to the World Government whether it’s power, influence or knowledge. Like Robin for example, her bounty is very high but there’s still people like Zoro who have less and is still stronger than her. While Luffy is purely based off both his strength and influence

Info already told: - Whitebeard is Ace's captain. - Blackbeard (real name Teach. Note that the real pirate king in the real world was called Edward Teach and was nicknamed Blackbeard) was a Nakama of Ace and therefore also in Whitebeard's crew. Ace is looking for him to avenge the death of one of his Nakama who was killed by Blackbeard himself for some reason. - 4 Warlords have been seen so far: Crocodile, Mihawk, Bartolomeo Kuma, and Doflamingo. 3 left to go. To answer your doubts about bounties these doesn't always respect strength although it is a good indicator. Respect more how dangerous the government believes that person is to their "business"

So in Alabasta Ace was looking for a guy named Teach which is now revealed is Blackbeard because he committed a grave sin, he killed his own comrade on Whitebeard's ship yes Mihawk's a Warlord he just couldn't be bothered actively participating in the meeting he just wanted to listen About the Bounties it doesn't necessarily mean that they're stronger if they have a higher bounty it's more seen as how high of a threat the pirate poses. Also the warlords get their bounties frozen when they accept the position as warlord. I'm excited about the next arc. I love the sky islands. Great reaction my friends. Explanations without spoilers: It was said in Alabasta that Ace is looking for a guy named Blackbeard. Ace is associated with Whitebeard though. Whitebeard was introduced here as worlds strongest man Edward Newgate. Blackbeard was introduced here as Marshall D. Teach (notice the middlename?). The 7 warlords were meeting this episode at some marine place where you were introduced to a bunch of characters. Only 3 of the warlords showed up though. Another guy showed up thats recommending Blackbeard as the replacement of Crocodile as a Warlord. It was also talked about how Whitebeard and Shanks are getting in contact and are gonna be meeting each other.

It has nothing to do with strength, but often times the larger threat means a bigger bounty ALSO: a lot of the warlords have former bounties, but that could also mean that they are actually much stronger now, since their bounties are out dated from before they became warlords. Crocodile for instance had 80mil. But that was an old bounty

He only said he was an on-looker because he didn't want to actively participate in this meeting, but still wanted to know what was happening there. I think. - Ace is the commander of the second division of the Whitebeard Pirates. And he is searching for Blackbead, who was once part of the Whitebeard Pirates and now has his own crew. Ace is looking for Blackbeard because he started a crime within the crew when he was still part of Whitebeard, which is why Ace wants to bring him to justice. So Ace doesn't work for Blackbeard 😅 And about all the names: I think maybe with One Piece it would be better for you if you wrote down the names, so make a few little notes, because with all the characters in One Piece, at some point it might be can get really confusing for you if you keep forgetting names or can't remember them 🤷🏻‍♀

Also just a little ramble for my girl Robin, she'll be seen a lot here and there with much calmer reactions cause she is much older and mature then the Straw hats and that she has been around crazy things if you consider her times with Crocodile. Also pay attention to the way she calls the Straw hats it's a small detail but my favorite for later reference.

first time we hear about Blackbeard was at the drum arc. he was the cause for Wapol to flee from the country. Ace and Blackbeard were both part of the whitebeard pirates. Ace was following him because he killed a comrade from the whitebeard crew. he mentions that in the alabasta arc. jaya arc is the first time we actually see blackbeard and his crew. I guess it was revealed already that blackbeard killed someone on whitebeards crew and that's why ace is chasing after blackbeard. This isn't really important but If you remember when we met chopper Dalton said Blackbeard attacked the entire island and made Wapol flee out of fear which is why he wasn't in the castle at the time, he's just a bad man looking to make a name for himself. I thought this was really cool too, his name is Marshall D. Teach which was a real man named Edward Teach who also went by Blackbeard. Edward Teach basically went out of his way to make a name for himself, he blockaded the port of Charleston in North America for a week while they were still under Britain rule during which taking hostages and loot. He burned a man named Protestant Caesar and much more. The flying dutchman in spongebob is pretty much based on blackbeard too, just an infamous man.

Here's the rundown. Basically something is going on between blackbeard and ace, shanks wants to visit whitebeard to talk about this since ace is part of whitebeards crew. Why does he want to talk to whitebeard about ace and blackbeard? who knows... All we know is one of blackbeards crew went to the 7 warlords meeting to say blackbeard will soon make a name for himself (probably why he wants to catch someone with a high bounty like luffy). I think in the previous episode when luffy and zoro were having a staredown with blackbeard after his speech they could sense how powerful he was and that he had more crewmates nearby.

The wanted posters aren’t necessarily a power scale, normally the bounty increases by actions that affect the world government for example killing people might increase the bounty more than killing important pirates, so in general it can be a good estimate of how important and powerful they can be but not exact as to one is way stronger then another

Also Luffy’s one punch to Bellamy proves he and Zoro had no reason to fight him in the beginning. Such an amazing set of episodes. Like Ron said, 151 really makes the world feel like bigger, and like Michelle said t starts to put this larger narrative into motion always happening in the background. As for Mihawk, he is a warlord. The reason Sengoku reacted like that is just because he really didn't expect Mihawk to show up, giving us a little insight into Mihawk's relationship with the world government. Mihawk said he was an onlooker basically just to let Sengoku know he wasn't their for a fight, implying they never really know when some of these Warlords are gonna turn on the government. Crocodile is also an example of that since his he was using his warlord status to help him take over Alabasta and find the Pluton which he would've used to betray the government to start his own country

you guys absorbed the info in 151 pretty well, with just some parts missed. This is pretty decent for first time watch. I recommend just rewatching the episode just for the new names mentioned (especially Blackbeard's 👀) Regarding bounties talk discussed in 150, all I will say is that its not only based on strength, but based on threat level to World Government(You can make your own conclusion regarding what factors are considered for the threat level to WG). Yes, they explained. Chopper island was explained since the beginning,by Dalton, as the reason why they were wary of pirates, and the reason Wapol left the country and disguised as a Pirate. Muscle 💪🏻 Ron is kind of right as well about the bounties, there could be real problematic people out there that dont have bounties because they aren’t on the government radar. But most of the time bounty is partly correlated to power, for our sake. Also Warlords like Mihawk did have bounties but they get cancelled (they showed this during mihawks poster reveal in the live action), if you drop out of the warlords they get reinstated.
