Luffy saying he will be king of the pirates all the time refers to finding the one piece because finding the one piece makes you king of the pirates. Everytime Luffy says he’ll be king everyone is shocked or laughs Plus it’s been 20 years since Gold Roger died.

It is actually an interesting tidbit that is wrapped up/explained hundreds of episodes later

I remember first watch of this anime, despite being hooked and binged everything up to this point, the next arcs coming is what really stood out for me and made me realize One Piece isnt just your typical anime. There was something really special about it. Looking back, I didnt realize its the GOAT Oda himself. Buckle up guys...One Piece is gonna get WILD going forward!!
