One Piece - 124-126

What a wild 3 episodes!

Comments

Pell should be dead fr

Edgar Delibo Jr.

Reminds me of Kat (i won’t elaborate)

KoKo JoJo

That hilarious, I literally got rid of our ceramic and glass plates because I cannot stand the sound of that scratching. Exactly what ron said, I feel it. 🥴😭

Justin SQFL

Luffy is a Saiyan

A n t h o n y G i p s o n I I

Oh God you guys are over thinking man🤣🤣🤣.....you guys need to understand that this is oda sans writing style it has a focus more on world building as he leaves hints throughout episodes of audiences to catch and focus on....secondly it's an old school shonen anime so most of what Luffy is able to do in his current stage is chalked up to pure will power and adrenaline also Luffy has trained it's just that at this point in the story we the audience haven't been made aware up to what extent and under whom...which is exactly why it was very important for you guys to watch the anime before the live action this is exactly what the live action misses with many beats of the story...also coming back to crocodile he was gradually weakened with his fights with Luffy think about it he for the past four years was using his powers to keep the rain clouds away...Notice how it started raining after Luffy knocked his out and the sandstorm stopped leading to the zoom out shot showing the raincoulds returning. plus his fights with Luffy made him gradually lose his strength also water when added to sand solidifies it hence Luffy using blood in the final battle there was nothing more in this fight other than Luffy using his sheer willpower and adrenaline rush....The alabasta arc though fairly second is honestly the most simple of the other arcs it gets complicated moving forward

branco marolia

the reason why oda hates killing off characters unless it is entirely crucial is because he feels like other writers do this so they dont have to keep worrying about how the character will develop later into the story

Ben

Spoiler yo wtf

KoreanJesus

all these comments😭 ofc there's something more than what we actually know as of right now but we have to admit that this show abuses plot armor as well, it's a shonen lol, ron's feelings are very valid, you're getting little hints for some of the biggest plot points in this show, and trust me, it will be worth the wait when you get there! loving the reactions guys

beannieswife

btw guys this is just my personal observation but it's true around 90% of the times. the middle transition scene usually has the 2 characters who have most to do in the episode usually. it was chopper and usopp in the episode they beat mr 4, it was sanji in his mr 2 fight, zoro in mr 1 fight, vivi in key vivi episodes. almost always that.

Ananth Varma

Will.. the most reason that led to crocodile’s loss it’s bc he underestimated Luffy twice, and he said it himself when he turned everything around him into sand that he lost so much energy

Shomy21

Yes with everything else

Shomy21

without enough battle experience?

Ivandro Moreira

Ron too fucking funny in the start

Axel Enamorado

Should Crocodile have more endurance and resilence than Luffy based on what u said? Will power dont cut it,defeat death 3 times by luck is definitely Plot armor

Uchiha Itachi

Stronger doest cut it especially when u knew more in the series how Warlord supposed to be fear. The Logia Type fruits is nighmare compare to luffy since he even manipulates his surrounding unlike Luffy.Luffy beat death 3 times is already comical,so im with Ron puzzled and unsatisfy

Uchiha Itachi

so luffy without enough battles experienced ,only punch harder and only will power doesnt puzzled u?crocodile battles experienced is worth shit and Logia fruits he uses in the level of awaken is shit too lol im more puzzled like Ron are

Uchiha Itachi

when the fights finish im more puzzled like Ron lol,not satisfy coz the battles kinda weird haha

Uchiha Itachi

The thing is blood dont splash like water lol,i get when luffy spray the water or splash it to make Crocodile mix with water before punch or beat him.In final battles blood basically on his hands crocodile can tire just by turning sand avoid him to death like he did to the dying soldier previously. But SUDDENLY he is too tired while luffy dying 3 times not tired at all like cmon,SUDDENLY he cant turn to sand,SUDDENLY he choose to stab luffy while having the ability of range fighter lol. So plot armor thats it.Luffy only rely on will power and punch harder to beat a warlord its funny lol

Uchiha Itachi

the thing is crocodile can disperse himself without luffy touching him so blood dont work anymore in the final battle, but suddenly he lose that ability lol.And become obses to stab luffy with poison when he have lot more ability to offer than stabbing another LOL simply said plot armor.U cant built sandcastle without letting the sand touch mix with water.

Uchiha Itachi

spoiler lol deleted it

Uchiha Itachi

Crocodile became weaker after he used his fruit abilities in the second fight, and luffy knew the way to fight him after the first and second fights and get used to his fight ability and luffy has to much strength more than crocodile (sorry my English not good)🥲

Shomy21

yes the whole crew grew in this arc. this is the grand line and just some east bluers have to step up or get killed. we have to be ready for even stronger enemies as we go.

Liana P

this isthe best explanation, if you havent wrote it, I would have. wghen Croc started bleeding, Luffy didnt give him a chance and kept hitting him and makig his harder every time. just bt the end, when croc flew high up, he had that time he didnt have before to finally use sand, but because luffy had blood all over didnt make a difference and was able to destroy crocodile's last attack and used gattling gun, which crocodile didnt expect. we should as well mention that crocodile is so used to being invinsible his ground was down because he underestimated luffy, and kept saying "our pirate level is different". crocodile is really strong, oterwise he wouldnt have become one of the seven warlords of the see, but that fact also became his weakness and unfortunate failure. and about the future and what will happen, you guys, do not worry and keep watching -- it will al be explained! so patiens and enjoy watcing and being in this journey :)

Liana P

i need more information about this one piece day

Liana P

Nope

Usher

The ost playing when Luffy defeats crocodile is one of my favourites. It fits so much for "the final attack"

Usher

More one piece please? :)

Mr.popiah

Yeah and the dance powder was used more to frame the king. Which is why the moment crocodile was defeated the rain started. Crocodile’s ship would’ve been at the coast of Alabasta or up Sandora’s river which both are not close to Alubarna. Plus all of Baroque works were in Alubarna not on crocs ship using the dance powder.

Jay

logical fight doest mean like real life dude cmon, what im saying is i love when luffy fight and bring something to the table or we seen his "grow" in technique literally not will power or punch harder. In this fight what luffy brings is basically he know how to touch Crocodile and will power thats it lol, other later battles when he actually grow i really loves it

Uchiha Itachi

yuo agree with ronahi, it doesn´t make much sense if you have to ignore everything to enjoy a show, there will be the good and the bad as in everything in life

Mario Ramos

nah I think it is nicer when they point out things they like and dislike

Ronahi S.

Yes and the thing is that this makes the fights lame. Because just punching harder wins? it feels very cheap and not deserved, which is a big problem for me with one piece

Ronahi S.

meh, in the manga Zoro doesn't really kill people. He would if he needs too, but he doesn't try too.

Brian

Think you guys are just over thinking it. Just enjoy the journey, dont over think it cause it just distracts you from the lovely world building of Oda.

101mavrik

Croc is stronger than Luffy but his arrogance kept him from finishing off Luffy not once but TWICE. Luffy kept on fighting until the odds were in his favor through straight willpower. I'd say one piece fights usually have an overarching theme to them which just makes them work; in this case Croc's arrogance was defeated by Luffy's determination. I honestly can see some power scaling issues too with the fight but man, was it not satisfying seeing crocodile lose like that? There is some actual crazy powerscaling throughout the series which will fill that hole that you feel with this fight.

vaughn

i thought arlong was dead?

vaughn

Oh luffy will definitely lose quite a bit don’t worry his will isn’t always enough. Him winning was due to logia’s (like crocodile) using stamina more when they use their fruits also blood has water and water causes crocodile to solidify temporarily. Throughout this fight luffy’s body was covered in blood so it wasn’t until after crocodile spoke and was in the air that he could effectively use his fruit uninterrupted. But no Ron crocodile does deserve to be a warlord because most people wouldn’t know to use water especially when nobody strong enough to fight him can swim lol (mind you my comment is based on where you guys are in the story because there is in fact more to this)

Aaron williams

Yes and it should be said that this goes even further for logia types like crocodile and smoker, etc. paramecia’s tend to consume less stamina

Aaron williams

Oda is a boss. His ability to write character and get you emotionally involved even when they’re only around temporarily is a gift truly.

Aaron williams

hey, I couldn't really tell if you you understood or not but let me just state it here, the rain wasn't a coincidence. crocodile was constantly stopping rain to fall in order to frame the king of using the dancing powder too much, that's why when he went unconscious, rain started. in other words, when your're unconscious your devil fruit powers are no longer effective. just something to keep in mind.

Espar

also I like how michelle was going up and down when the seconds were passing. thats exactly how I felt.

Espar

crocodiles plan would have worked perfectly if only he had considered that someone will risk their life just because they are a friend or they a duty to protect, but those things are not in his dictionary. that's exactly why he failed.

Espar

just so you guys known, you see how time flows from that scene of jumping to the cannon. from our prospective its been a lot of episodes but in one piece world, since luffy started his journey, its barely been a month. so keep that in mind when you watch one piece.

Espar

Have you ever built a sandcastle? You can't with regular sand, it just collapses and doesn't hold it's shape, but if you add some water it becomes much more "solid" and holds its shape better. Same idea. Just like Luffy being rubber is weak to being cut. Ever tried to break a rubber ball by throwing it with blunt force? No bueno.

Sonder

I mean one piece day is in 2 months👀

Usher

Reminds me of a certain scene in the upcoming arcs 🔥

Usher

A lot like goku in a way. Never start at full power

Usher

IDK maybe with any liquid or something with water, because blood has water, even if he is in sand form if you touch him, he will turn to human again.

Revolution To Evolution

Just a personal opinion, but I don't think you'll be able to really enjoy one piece to its full extent if you're watching a bunch of other animes at the same time

Rx

Yeah go on spoil them while you're at it

Zerø

yeah I think it makes one piece very whacky and I can not take it seriously because of these problems, but I think everyone has their own taste and I get if people like this.

Ronahi S.

Dude if you want logical fight, you go watch MMA, this is anime, you're looking in the wrong place for logic. But I do understand your point about this fight though and I agree with you. Luffy here won for the story telling and character building.

Ken Ch

There's def more to Luffy, but for now I'd just accept that Luffy is a walking Deus Ex Machina wrapped in comedic relief. The one thing that do hate hate hate is the number of fake out deaths/injuries in this manga. Especially when a lot of them have great buildup... you stop caring cus you don't believe them anymore. Anywho... IMO the reason One Piece is so great despite going on for so long is the lore/world building. Soooo, I don't mind looking past some of the inconsistencies/annoyances.

David Barron

This commemt went through my soul💀

Usher

Luffy drinking poison in the kuro arc never happened in the anime and was live action exclusive. That's all I'ma say

Usher

I agree, One Piece unfortunately has 90% bad fights with not much tension and way too long where all the tension goes through the window.

Ronahi S.

I think this will be Ron’s biggest issue with this show. The man is just too bloodthirsty to let that slide.

Michael H

They shouldnt even know that😶

Usher

There is somthing waaaaaayyy more to his fruit but you won't find that out til over 1000 episodes😁

foster smith

You are right everytime he gets close to death it awakens somthing in him

foster smith

Crocodile was a warlord, but it doesn't compare to Mihawk case Mihawk isn't just a warlord, he is the "Strongest Swordsman in the World". Keep in mind a "warlord" is just a powerful pirate who agreed to cooperate with the marine and marine will not go for them, but not all best pirates in the one piece world acepted to join the marine. Just the ones who doesn't want to be bothered by the marine.

Katherine Steele

Using devil fruits "consumes" energy, that is why crocodile counldn't use his fruit the whole fight. The longest it takes on a fight the more fatigue the user will feel, and the more powerful the fruit is more energy it takes to use

Katherine Steele

also realize that this a long show so your answers are going to be very far in the future.

kirk poss

A huge reason he was defeated early was because he couldnt touch him.

kirk poss

agree to disagree , i said what i said.I dont want to be a spoiler but the way u comment make it hard for me lol i can name every luffy battle which is NOT plot armor. What fans wants is simply logical battle not always LUCKY.

Uchiha Itachi

So for water. You are mixing up the inconsistencies with the live action and how it is in the manga. Waters needs to be at least knee high to effect a DF user.

Brian

Plot armor is the stupidest thing anyone ever says. People who claim plot armor dont understand the basics of writing. Everything and anything ever written would be considered plot armor.

Brian

Did you see that spiral move Luffy did? It looked like Crocodile’s sand spiral, Luffy learns from every fight he has and we can see that in the moves he creates (this happened in the LA too) so he does get stronger with every battle but it’s more like a skills upgrade than physically strength. There is more to it too, but for episodes in the 100s that’s the best way to explain it for now 😅

Yaz

Michelle is kinda there. Crocodile does not disperse to sand form before someone attacks him. He waits for people to attack him and unable to attack him because they would hit sand. But Luffy has water/blood on his fist. When he gets in contact with Crocodile, he can't turn to sand already because he was in contact with liquid and solidify already. Also, Luffy is persistent and he will not give up and will stand up again no matter what. Also, the actual answer for your question will come in future episodes and 1000+ episodes. Crocodile did underestimate Luffy. He thought that nobody would ever be able to harm him since he is sand and was overconfident. That was his downfall.

Phyllis

Epic episodes, epic reactions!

Vaby da Kat

My personal view on crocodile fights VS Luffy is mainly Plot armor, sorry for those who hate it.Crocodile is warlord,it doest make sense he lose this fight.Water or blood beat sand like yeah (ok....) but without contact and crocodile suddenly seems so weak and tired all the time like i dunno... its a weird fights. And luffy always escapes death by luck all the time in this arc totally bullcrap haha but what I can say is Luffy battle will become "logically understanable" gradually in time, when the series start explaining more and more detail about power scalling :)

Uchiha Itachi

There is no magic behind "the will" whenever they talk about "The will" its about how much you gonna put on the line to live its a recurring theme since the Buggy arc, anyone can be as strong as luffy or crocodile if you put everything on the line (truly) and you will come on top eventually whether with help from others or clever counters to power. Crocodile doesn't have that will he doesn't put everything on the line to fight, always hesitant to use all his power to fight because he also constantly thinking about retreating from the fight that idea is always in his mind, when Luffy doesn't have that mindset in his head. Plus Luffy's is also powerful maybe not as powerful as a logia type guy but remember DF give u not just specific power but also gives u more endurance and resilience.

HotShame

YOU ARE UNDERESTIMATING LUFFY AND OVERCALCULATING THINGS. REMEMBER YOU ARE NOT YET IN A HALF WAY OF THE WHOLE SERIES. OBVIOUSLY, LUFFY IS PHYSICALLY STRONG NOT BECAUSE OF HIS DEVIL FRUIT. THAT ONE THING YOU SHOULD ALWAYS REMEMBER. CROCODILE HAS BEEN LIVING HIS LUXURY LIFE FOR TOO LONG. HE RELIES TOO MUCH ON HIS DEVIL FRUIT. SO WHENEVER HE GETS PUNCHED BY LUFFY, HE FEELS WEAKENED RIGHT AWAY.

SETH DANIEL FERNANDEZ

Ron and Michelle.. Logia type devil fruits have abilities which allow them to fully merge into there element but it's not like they can just turn into a cloud at any moment at most they turn their body into the element forming the shape it's gets spread out where the enemy attacks like punching a water fall Luffy hands being bloody stop that process also luffy isnt strong than crocodile but he has the ability to be but lacks battle experience crocodile underestimated Luffy abilities think of it like this crocodile a range to mid range fighter Luffy can do all three plus he's countering his ability equals not really a good match up at that point since crocodile more experience it came down to stamina which he lost since rubber can reduce damage of physical attacks also the poison bit eh it's anime

Patrone07

I think it was a combination of both. Use dance powder offshore or on another island and then use his powers in strategic spots to keep rain out. We see when he falls the sand dissipates and then the rain falls. So just assuming there was at least some level of rain control going on

Mu Nanyo

Hey there's a positive to this as well, when people actually die in this show, you dont ever forget it. (yes i know it doesnt make up for fake deaths but still :) )

Valeriu Irimia

logia type fruits have element counter's that's why water/blood can hit sand because it solidifies it.

Amare D.

Luffy is stubborn to prove his point of being friends with Vivi and doing anything they can for her, as well as, wanting to prove his worth to claim the pursuit of the Pirate King title. Crocodile is stubborn and over confident in his own way, to not use his devil fruit to be him to prove a point. Crocodile is stronger and this is a massive blunder for him.

Bradley Thompson

It’s straight dog in luffy

Kd

I would say a lot of this fight comes down to a few factors , some of which you named. Crocodile as a result of hiding in the shadows and operating BW , isnt "well tuned" like other pirates may be, so he was essentially rusty. He also grossly underestimated Luffy and his persistence. Lastly , Luffy's luck in this fight. Remember Luffy was essentially killed almost 3 times in this fight , where as crocodile never really came close to dying until the end. That is my reasoning anyways , using the knowledge we have currently of the episodes watched up to this one.

W34KN35S

I see a lot of comments about it becomes clearer on the way and trust the process. And don’t get me wrong they are right as we learn more retrospectively the fights and some plot points fit better. Oda is masterful in that department, with foreshadowing and also adding, expanding on lore and power system that doesn’t contradict the past arcs but makes it even more sensible. That being said, One Piece is essentially not about power scaling nor analytical fights. I never felt it was a suitable show for powerscaling at least in a very strict sense. Oda always cares about fights making thematic sense rather than being the most logical one. Of course that doesn’t mean anybody can defeat anybody by sheer will power and that is even pointed out in the story. However willpower, motivation, luck, destiny and emotions play a very large role, it is a “romance” story after all. So just to set up expectations, if you are waiting for hardcoded power levels and fights that people do seemingly most logical or optimal moves all the time you might be disappointed. And like I said in retrospectively this fight makes more sense as we know more but if you are not fully satisfied with it as it is, you might feel the same way in the future. That part is just personal preference, what you expect and what you like to see. It is not that power levels nor fights are unimportant, on the contrary they are important to story thematically but you won’t find hard coded rules that Oda follows and explain everything in it. It is more abstract after a certain point. For my personal view, I don’t care about powerscaling or analyzing fights as much as I used to (except when it is for humor like agenda piece) Because I feel like it is just never ending debates whose more powerful based on which details we see or what move they should use in which scenario and so on. It kinda lost its appeal to me so I roll with it mostly unless a huge contradiction happens and leave the rest to “willpower” or whatever the story needs lol. Also, it just doesn’t seem realistic. Not even professional fighters make the right move every time they fight, so fictional characters not finding optimal moves don’t bother me as well. Same with “willpower” argument to some degree. Even in my daily life I perform better if I am motivated so I will believe in these larger than life characters punching their way out with their willpower to some degree. But of course I wouldn’t expect Zoro to beat mihawk by boosting up his willpower back in episode 24.

kaan

Also, its fun to see you guys theorize a lot about wills and all, some are so intriguing and sometimes bizarre to listen to i love em’ 🤣 , but i promise you unanswered questions do become answered , but like measuring strength is something all anime fans look up to so i completely get you Ron and why you would like a reference point, but remember it is still the beginning of their journey in the Grand Line, so you will get a better understanding of what stregnth is the more you watch:)

JustRojo

Oda likes to give you little hints that there is something there/ something more, but never explains right away. It’s a journey. You will be given little pieces little by little until one day you get the whole picture. Everything will be explained or understood at some point. But it’s not time yet. And when the time comes, oh how satisfying it will be, guys. Trust Oda…he won’t disappoint you…he’ll give you even more than what you were hoping for.

BashaM

I don’t think we’ve seen luffy fight at full power until this fight really. Everything gets explained eventually though.

DuLee

Generally I think power creep is handled pretty well in One Piece. And it's done here by keeping the "power" of this world a bit more mysterious as you go through the series. There's a lot of things that are not explained until much later and it'll all make much more sense. Where as other shonen tend to power creep way too much and really leaves moments like seem more insignificant later on. It's perfectly normal to have the questions and doubt why things happen the way they are, and it's good to have this mindset going forward. Yall are wonderful reactors and keep up the good work!

Changsta

Indeed, I would add; "Training Arcs" are constant in One Piece. They happen during "everyday lives" stuff on the Ship that we do not see on the screen. The most apparent one is Zoro that we see train basically 24/7 or Usopp making the Clima-Tact for Nami which was explained through backstory. They do not gain strength in a typical way, like other anime that spend a couple of episodes if not entire arcs to explain the strength level up. One Piece implies it, confirms it through backstory and/or as you said figures out the missing pieces through the fight themselves.

Kee

You are only a 10th of the way through the show. Trust the process all will make sense……..it only gets better. Other arcs will put through the ringer!

beckett9898

Once it touches the nards they shrivel and you get weak, makes sense.

Mu Nanyo

Crocodile underestimated Luffy (As well as what everyone else was saying hardened sand, fatigue), oh haha Michelle is just saying it now. That underestimation lead crocodile to lean on other methods like the poison and the dagger once his main ability wasnt as effective anymore. Remember he had already tried his powers on two occasions and failed (in his eyes) to kill luffy or even break his will. Its also is without a doubt a helpful dose of plot armor from Oda. Also its wild seeing how much filler there was in the old eps. Our brains tend to filter alot of it and only remember the highlights.

Mu Nanyo

He did nit stop the rain with his DF, he did with the dance powder

Dennis Forsgren

Pell on multiple occasions Its partly the manga editors fault, getting Oda to make each issue more exciting, got him addicted to fakeout deaths.

Mu Nanyo

Basically Crocodile underestimated Luffy and was trying to prove a point by not using his powers as much as possible to beat Luffy. It's just a natural defense for him so it occurs naturally being hit but being hit by blood/covered in his own limits what he can do and he got into that state by being over confident.

luck64

Yes thats part of it. I think its collectively him getting wet by Water Luffy (Pause) as well as both luffy bleeding and him suffering so much damage and bleeding internally as well keeps him from morphing into sand as easily as before.

The CulturedGentleman

saying "no diddy" like that takes away the sus from it lmfao

The CulturedGentleman

So I’m not caught up, no spoilers cause I don’t know any, but imo I think there are the shows/stories that lean more towards “deep analytical fights” such as jjk, and then there are stories “will & purepose is a power system” type of thing, like one piece. Obviously I prefer a mix of both, but in OP so far what I get from luffy and his abilities is exactly what Zeff said, that he has “a spear of determination in his heart”. Every battle can be read as a literal manifestation of a battle of conviction — and luffy has an unshakeable conviction. But that’s just how I read it at this point like, I’m sure oda cooked up some lore and stuff, but I think these fights are still extremely satisfying for what they represent emotionally.

Ghoullie

Zoro begs to differ lol

The CulturedGentleman

Like a body of water high. Remember when Luffy was inside Laboon he drowned in stomach acid. Then inside the cage at rainbase the water was knee high and he didn’t weaken.

Jay

Luffy 1v1 crocodile three times it was a struggle trust. Sand absorbs any liquid and basically solidifies, and when everyone else hit him it was a dry hits. Liquids affect crocodile more than any other use because it’s sand. Any liquids can affect devil fruit users but it has to be at least above waist high.

Jay

Crocodile stopped the rain completely with his devil fruit just like Ace stopped the snow on drum island. Not a spoiler because you guys missed it. When they showed ace in drum island there was no snow.

Jay

Crocodile isn’t a fighter, he has a strong devil fruit yes, but he’s spent years in the shadows taking over a country through cunning and cloak and dagger methods, not fighting himself, not that he can’t, but u can make the argument he’s rusty. Also him and luffy are both bleeding, so it weakens his ability to turn into sand. I’m not gonna bs you, it’s totally possible to make an argument that crocodile was written too strong for this point in time in the show, and oda needed a way to beat him, but it’s more likely that luffy just figured out a way around crocodiles op abilities. Also luffy did level up, everyone in the crew leveled up during their fights. Luffy was also winning the mental fight causing crocodile to be flustered af

Jordan

Also Baroque is a old art form which is why they play classical music. It’s a marvelous detail Oda puts in this arc.

Jay

Not a spoiler because Oda says this in an SBS, so Luffy does not kill his enemies he kills their dreams. Which is worst than death for any and all pirates. Luffy does not use weapons nor any life threatening moves. The goat only uses his body to fight.

Jay

Definitely would be a spoiler if it were true. Not sure why he even said that

Adrian Dawson

Awesome comment and prespective. I just think telling them when will the will of D be revealed is kinda a spoiler

Usher

Vivi screaming “Please stop fighting” always gets me choked up🥺

Jay

The true meaning and origin of the will of D hasn't been revealed yet in the manga unless you're a time traveler... Also, Crocodile just has the unfortunate position of being the first major villain to be taken down in a series that wasn't intended to be as long as it is now with as many power increases as it has given to the main characters.

Scott Brown

If luffy's blooded fist touched crocodile's sand he would solidify. So saying crocodile should've turned into sand and popped up behind luffy is assuming he's fast enough to do that

Usher

Oda’s single greatest failing as a writer: the man loves—and I mean LOVES—fakeout deaths. I think this week alone, we’ve been led to believe that Luffy, Koza, Chaka, Pell, and Tashigi had all died at one point or another just to immediately be shown they hadn’t.

Michael H

I like to theorize that Crocodile, having been untouched for so long, was shocked Luffy kept hitting him and i'm sure it hurt a lot. that with the fact that he's starting to bleed himself, the areas of him that are wet can't turn to sand, maybe?

Taka

Crocodile did almost kill Luffy more than twice, He is strong but he does rely too much on his abilities so when Luffy figured out a way to deal with the sand ability, Crocodile couldn’t do much against Luffy’s endurance and willpower.

Joemar Villalon

idk if this has already been answered but are they going to anime expo LA in july?

Joseph Alexander Flack

ScavengerRPG

I’m not sure if this is a spoiler but if ya’ll haven’t seen the trend yet, luffy doesn’t kill his opponents, he just beats them up for the marines to swoop in and capture the bad pirates.

Joemar Villalon

Im having deja vu from the intro ISTG🤣

Usher

U can’t forget crocodile is bleeding to and making it easy to but u will see more about Luffy powers coming up I already seen every episode and not trying to spoil but I get u

Anthony Jernigan

Michelle in your D vs something else statement.. there are words for that statement. Good luck lol

No Remorse

Luffy didnt really beat crocodile, atleast he died twice before. Crocodile fs has another powerscaling than luffy even after the fight, luffy just figured out how to play around his niche. As Crocodile has the rarest kind of fruit the "logia" he might have relied on that and his deserty surroundings his whole life. Luffy is used to get beaten since he is a kid😂 the endurance of 17yo rubberluffy with like 17years brawltraining against an old arrogant 50year old that never had to take hits from anyone is obv higher. Man thank you so much for the tripler😂 the first 2 felt so unbelivably stressfull i just hate when anime use timers like with the cannon/bomb😆😵liie im allergic to that. Really satisfied to see all 3 plots end in the last ep. Don't forget these characters. Nearly every even slightly important character comes back and plays a role on the big Chessboard of One Piece mid/lategame.

tris273

Remember when Christopher Nolan stole Pell's sacrifice for Dark Knight Rises?

Mario Prime Plays

1. People tend to underestimate how strong Luffy is at the beginning. I think it's because of anime like Naruto where the MC starts the show very weak so you don't expect him to take on big shots so early (One piece the only show where ep 126 is early 🤣). 2. Yes, without Nico Robin he dies at their first fight, that's what would happen to 95% of people.

DerozTY

ranked by who ? lol

DerozTY

well luffy trained his whole life until he was going to head for the sea. Blood was like water and crocodile relies on his devil fruit alot he isn’t a combat fighter

Strawhat Gabo

I think Luffy was always stronger than crocodile. He just had a disadvantage in the first two fights bc he didn’t know crocodiles devil fruit in the first one and had to keep applying water in the second one. And I think crocodiles real strength is in his intelligence rather than combat

TI84

To be fair I have to preface by saying that at the end of the day, luffy is a rubber man so in all battles his finishing move will always be a physical punch, kick, etc. If you think its absurd to win with punches and not some explosive fancy finishing move, then you'll be disappointed. But to answer some of your questions... 1. Luffy is able to deal physical damage to Crocodile because the sand-sand fruit's weakness is not water, its getting WET. If you think about it, sand is very loose and easy to disperse when dry. However, when wet, it clumps up and hardens, taking a more solid form, thus enabling you to hit a sand-sand man. That's why both water or blood works, they are both liquids that can get sand wet. Also, as Crocodile gets more injured and continues to bleed on himself, this adds to his weakness, and he becomes unable to disperse himself. Oda doesn't usually spell out things to watchers/readers, so often times you have to use clues or read in between the lines to deduce the reasoning. There's no narrator explaining how someone won the fight like other anime. This practice will continue in the future, so continue to rack your brains, and make tons of theories, it's what makes one piece fun. Oda is an amazing writer because he gives just enough clues for the reader/watcher to figure it out for themselves, but doesn't hand the answer out on a silver platter. That's why a lot of people recommend taking notes/ having discussions while watching this anime. 2. Luffy defeats crocodile at their third encounter. At this point he has better understanding of his powers, knows to avoid his right hand, among other things. Also, like all shounen anime, villans tend to underestimate their enemy, make stupid moves etc. I think because they were an enclosed tomb, Crocodile couldn't use more of his large-scale powers because it would further compromise a crumbling structure that is already on the verge of collapsing on them. 3. Power scaling of the warlords will make more sense as you keep watching. Not all warlords are equal. That being said, Crocodile is strong (if you think about it, he killed Luffy twice) but Luffy is also strong. Other warlords may be stronger though and Luffy will not be winning fights through sheer plot armor or power of friendship, if thats what you're worried about. Also, speculating about what Will of D is, is fine, but attributing every unknown in One Piece to Luffy's middle name will lead you nowhere. Crocodile was not defeated because of Luffy's middle name and many other mysteries won't be either. Don't let that initial blind you from all the other easter eggs that Oda is dropping. He sometimes drops them very subtly, blink and you might miss it. There are lots of mysteries in One Piece, "Will of D" is just one of many. 4. There aren't really training arcs in one piece. The crew continues going on adventures and continues to get stronger, but there isn't some insane power spike immediately. It's kind of like how an adventure in the real world would work. Anyways, I'm sad to hear that at the end of the triple drop, the take away was not the enthralling cinematic scene of vivi's desperation, her incredible voice acting, her heartfelt plea finally being heard and luffy's promise being fulfilled. Instead.... it was a fight analysis 😭😭😭 Is this what rage quitting feels like?

pink turtle

Fun fact: Did you know that when Oda first started drawing manga, he believed that he could never surpass Toriyama Akira, the writer of Dragon Ball, in terms of fighting scenes? As a result, he focused more on developing the story instead. This is why One Piece has a very emotional and touching storyline, but the battle scenes may not appear as impressive or make as much sense as other series. (And I get that you think about many things I think especially because you've watched HxH, I also questioned many things from other series including OP after reading HxH, the most structured battle 🤣) However, the latter parts of the series have better battle scenes, so I'm excited for you two to see them!

mamimumemo

Ron was just probably thinking how strong Mihawk is and can't believe a fellow warlord lose the fight..

endyey Es

Luffy is always serious (he says so himself several times). I think he just needs time to understand how his enemies fight, what works against them and what doesn't, before he can go all out. A lot of his moves during fights makes more sense when you have this in mind imo

DerozTY

I don't know, it kind of feels like they don't quite realize how powerful that Luffy is right out the gate, like he's actually already a legit threat when the series starts, and Crocodile still essentially killed him multiple times, with Luffy only continuing to survive because of pure luck and Robin betraying Crocodile. So Luffy basically got to fight Crocodile over and over and learn his moveset when 99% of people who fight Crocodile would have just died like Luffy should have the first time. As for Crocodile not using sand powers in the last fight, I think it's because there's not as much sand to manipulate down there like there was when they fought in the desert, and Luffy basically had him figured out and was quick and agile enough to avoid most of his sand attacks anyway. Like, even the first couple of fights, how many of them actually connected? What actually worked for Crocodile the first couple of fights was fighting in melee (stabbing Luffy and then during him out) so it actually makes sense that that's what he'd do this time too. Also, One Piece doesn't really do training arcs. People get into tough spots and just have to figure it out so their improvements end up feeling more incremental and naturally occurring, like gaining experience (like Zoro vs Mr. 1), rather than suddenly getting a massive power spike all at once after doing squats and bag work for a couple of weeks (though there are some exceptions to this)

I feel like Next should also be a triptrip since it’s the end to the arc

I don’t mind the questions but all will be explained in a few hundred episodes or so Out of the 7 warlords Crocodile is ranked the 5th most powerful which means there are 4 more including Mihawk above him. Crocodile is pretty weak compared to the rest who could end luffy very quickly

just some random car guy

one piece uses a lot of absurdism so many of the ridiculous things that happen doesn't always have a logical explanation however everything will make more sense in the future.

Boah

luffy came for his get back in blood

Strawhat Gabo

So a couple of points for the Luffy vs Crocodile conversation. 1. Luffy is stronger than you have given him credit for. His devil fruit makes him very durable and fast. Don't forget, he was trained by Garp, a Marine Vice Admiral. You'll have to be patient on more info about Luffy's upbringing. 2. Crocodile is strong, but he is one of those cases where he overly relies on his logia devil fruit and isn't very skilled at anything else fighting-wise. Devil fruits are rare and Logia Devil Fruits are very rare in the OP world, so having a Logia practically guarantees someone will be stronger than 90% of the OP population even without training much. Maybe Crocodile could have turned to sand more and dodged, but my take on this is he was gassed and injured from all the hits he had taken previously and he is not used to having to think about dodging attacks. Normally, he can let attacks hit him because they won't damage him. So basically dodging isn't something he has ever had to practice. This is just how my mind justifies this battle. Lastly, don't forget that Luffy is very Lucky, he technically lost to Crocodile twice.

Joshua

it’s the Will of that Big D that keeps Luffy alive 😩

koza

It will get more into how luffy fights and him getting stronger and with the blood its liquid just like the water you don’t have to think too much on that devil fruits have a weakness that will make sense

_Kiing

YO WHAT!

This is not Solo Leveling. This is leveling up with & for your Nakama.

Monkey D. Luffy

I mean i get why its hard to understand the levelling up in this story, comparing to other animes probably won’t help haha, but long story short , i think you guys are still early into the anime to really answer that question and also if you’re talking about his punches , in the second fight his punches were just a couple of them and they were definetly damaging Crocodile, and try to imagine Crocodile is already this guy who probably doesnt’ get hit that much since normal punches just go through him all the time and like because he’s a Warlord, some pirates would’t even bother to intervene but Luffy did and because he’s usually impervious to attacks, getting punched by luffy again and again and shooting him out of the roof should hurt anyone i think, hope this helps , if it doesn’t haha just gotta keep watching

JustRojo

About how Luffy defeated Croc, as you guys remember Luffy has been growing in strength as he defeated each of his opponents since the beginning up to this point. As for his training you guys will get to figure that out on your own as you continue the journey. Now, during the first fight with Croc he made fun of Luffy about how some people think they are all powerful just because they have devil fruit powers. And me made a point about how one can get strong depending on various way they use their powers. During this fight Luffy learned the weakness of Croc's power and he learned to exploit it. He figured out even his blood can do the same job as water and use that fact when he no longer had water. This also showed us that devils fruits has weaknesses. Hope this helped a bit. Also don't over think. Remember normal logic don't work in the Grand Line.

Monkey D. Luffy

crocodile did kill luffy he did not know robein saved him and i agree croc did not use his power in till the end when it was to late

mahmoud alnaghy

Luffy is that guy!! He did loose twice soo you would have to give him some credit, luffy's will is that OP and is luck iguess. But there is something more to him tho you'll find out soon. Just enjoy the adventure because even now we still don't know about the Will of D. Maybe by the time you catch up we would find that out together. Also I am rewatching with you guys cause there's alot of things connecting to the present day to the past episodes oda Is god of foreshadowing.

PumpDaddyD

There are a few plausible explanations for luffy seemingly getting stronger throughout Alabasta but you dont get that information for hundreds of episodes and its up to you to draw your own conclusions

Surya

Ron about to get this tip tip (no Diddy)

Goon

I get the argument at the end but I think you have to understand more about the strength differences between all the warlords, considering we’ve only seen one other (mihawk), it’s hard to compare. There are also many other characters stronger than the warlords in the show so can’t really consider them luffys strongest enemies. My opinion on how he was able to defeat crocodile was simply crocodile was too cocky and didn’t think he’d ever lose to a rookie pirate and someone with a devil fruit like crocodile, ace, smoker aren’t used to being hit so when they do it does a lot more damage so crocodile became infuriated and his battle iq kept dropping whereas luffy was the opposite. Battle is also the best fighting experience which we saw with Zoro as well tbh I much rather them struggle to win a fight than to just have a bunch of training arcs.

Brandisimo

Tbf about Luffy getting stronger during the fight zoro did the exact same thing against Mr. 1 lol at the beginning he couldn’t cut steel at all and then all of a sudden after sheer will he was able to cut steel so let’s not question it just in Luffys fight 😂

Tre

As you continue on this journey all the answers to your questions shall be revealed.

Monkey D. Luffy

Ron Crocodile couldn't soften his body at that point (Oda explains it before this in SBS and questions fans have) Devil Fruit natural weaknesses, each fruit has a weakness - Crocodile had his sand body harden so he ain't have the option anymore

ShaquanVirse

3:20 am from europe love what you guys do !!

you guys are indeed correct Luffy has gotten stronger

There is something more, way more, it’ll all make sense. Trust! That’s how I felt in the beginning of watching One Piece too Ron 🫡

1 one piece week 1 time a month would be crazy

luquzii

Luffy and Crew arent straight up murderers so they dont just kill people. Luffy has been strong since the start. He really didnt have much trouble until Crocodile. As i see it, Luffy got in Crocs head. He beat him twice, and he still kept getting up. Crocodile lost his cool. Even when Luffy finally won Crocodile yelled "who do you think i am" and lunged at Luffy. Luffy ended up getting in his head and turning the fight into the only way he could win. Fists v Fist.

Crocodile requires contact if you remember to dry up liquids - y'all giving Crocodile too much credit 😂

ShaquanVirse

The music when Luffy knocks out Crocodile is peak. Excellent song choice for an excellent villains defeat

Thunter

Luffy doesn't always take shit seriously - it's not that he's gotten stronger - Luffy beat Arlong with one attack when he started taking it seriously - Crocodile was stronger because of his devil fruit and his intelligence (Crocodile was his own downfall because he didn't take Luffy seriously)

ShaquanVirse

Idk if Luffy necessarily got stronger here, I mean I'm sure he did, but I think this is the first time he's had to really fight seriously. Goofy Luffy and angry Luffy are two different beasts lol. Devil Fruit powers simply have very strong counters. You'll "get it" more over time but I think for Crocodile, the second he had been dealt a serious blow and was bleeding, it became hard for him to use sand powers. Because his sand had been hardened, his physical body became more hittable. That's the most basic way I can describe it. If Crocodile had taken Luffy more seriously from the start he would have probably won, but he just saw him as some lil rubber dumbass and took big damage because of that Also you can assume that Crocodile was using sand to dry up the clouds and the sky to prevent rain from falling anywhere except the place he was living in. The second he fell, the rain fell, almost like it wanted to all along. A beautiful ending.

SomeoneElse

Luffy winning against crocodile was more of a mindset set thing also I took it as crocodile is not a damage taker while luffy is very durable and high endurance cause of is devil fruit I think crocodile couldn’t shake the fact in his head luffy should be dead like 2 times crocodiles very calculated always a plan even backups everything was falling apart around him the weapon he spent years on just to have nothing his subjects not complete their missions the bomb not killing everyone then it’s like what is he going to do when the navy comes (Higher ups)how do you explain this and because he is a logia user and just like you said about his body most if not all logia user are not use to taking damage

Makayla Robinson

“If we die we die” is so cold

Tre

Think of it like pokemon. That's the reason luffy is able to hit crocodile (water/blood vs sand). Just like Ace, Luffy is very strong. Crocodile was his first big challenge. Luffy has insane endurance and determination that always pushes his own limits. There's also more than that where the more yall watch the more will be answered. I know Ron loves zoro and I even heard him say Zoro is stronger but that's just not true. Do we really believe Zoro is the type of guy to follow someone weaker than him? Also, the wounds luffy previously got from crocodile was the reason he won. All the blood allowed him to hit him. He no longer had to focus on being able to actually hit crocodile and could fight on pure instinct. And to call back to when Ron said we've seen Croc phase behind ppl and do this cool stuff w his powers. But you also have to remember when he was doing that he was surrounded by sand completely making it very easy for him to do what he wanted. Damn I wrote alot lol
