“ There’s no way Sokka is going to win”. That’s what I love about the show. They don’t do the dumb beginner/girl power /inexperienced person is magically better than a master who’s been training for his whole life. And they give credit to learning from others. Same thing as when Katara faced master Paku; she showcases she’s good due to her experiences so far having to actually use her abilities to fight, but absolutely nothing compared to what the master is at . Unfortunately, the Netflix version of the show doesn’t follow this basic common sense standard and does what all the other modern shows do and make the person naturally, a badass
