Some characters in One Piece are just damn strong, look at Zoro and Sanji for example. They're really strong, but they're not devil fruit users.

In the Live Action, they only showed Don Krieg in a short scene fighting Mihawk while Mihawk was on the phone with Vice Admiral Garp then Mihawk sliced Don Krieg's ship and bullet that Don Krieg fired. The anime is the one with the actual story line. In the manga and anime, Mihawk did not talk to VIce Admiral Garp.

2023-12-07 06:01:53 +0000 UTCThere is logic and then there is One Piece logic. The One Piece logic can be cartoonish but it is consistent. Also, there are people who are just insanely strong without Devil Fruits. Mihawk is a taste of the power level of the Grand Line. The insanity they are about to sail into. All of this gets developed later on. The world building to come is amazing as Mihawk's insane power level makes sense once you learn about the Grand Line and how the top of the power hierarchy works. On a structural level, the rest of this arc is pure genius. Oda takes some real chances that payoff big and leads right into the first great arc of the series.

So they really condensed Don's character and his crew down. I didn't mind that to be honest but it's cool for those coming from the live action and getting more story.

They provide so much more, and you will likely forget the anime version over the live action if you are thinking about it while actually watching the anime. Not a criticism on you. I just speak from experience.

It's not that bad now, especially since you've already seen the live action. But I promise you that there will be titles in the future that are going to spoil major events and piss you off.
