He got back being able to use his arms but wasn’t able to do jutsu with them. Can’t go into more detail because spoilers. But the best way to think of it as if you lost your arms in an accident, got fake arms so you can grab stuff and do some normal things again, but you lack the ability to feel. He can use is arms for almost everything but do jutsu. And if you are still not convinced, you can literally google when he gets the ability to do jutsu with his arms again to keep the comment section free of spoilers.

The intricate weaving of how every character from beginning to end add significance to either other characters or the plotline itself is just a masterpiece, as well as how every plot inside of the plot connect to each other to further tell the main messages of the whole show- to inspire people to become better human beings, Kishimoto will forever go in my mind as the greatest anime storyteller that has yet to live.

Orochimaru is strong but he just has hacks jutsu's. His snake skin shedding jutsu makes it hard to permanently injure him and his sword of kusanagi is one of the best weapons in Naruto which can hurt even Naruto when he's in that form. It takes more than just Chakra to win a fight in Naruto. Look at kakashi, he doesn't have a lot of Chakra yet he still manages to beat stronger opponents.

People can train to enhance their chakra and get stronger. Some have got more natural talent than others. Also, Orochimaru does all kinds of messed ip experiments so he has probably found a cheat code of giving himself extra power. Jiraiya fought 4 tails. He literally says that. Naruto (as a show) will build and build, once it reaches points of full investment it will stab you in the feels. This happens more than once and it always gets you, every single time. Few things, I know everyone has been saying it lol but Jiraya got to see the 4 tails. He was trying to bring Naruto back, not hurt him, that's how he got injured and almost died. He also explained that Naruto was able to fully heal from the 4 tails, cuz the power of the 9 tails allows him to regenerate, but he is afraid that the more tails come out, the more damage Naruto's body will take and could lead to Naruto dying and the 9 tails fully coming out into the world. Also, Orochimaru is just playing with Naruto, he knows he would probably not stand a chance, so he is playing defensive and trying to push Naruto further and further cuz he is intrigued by the Power, that's Orochimaru's kink lol But yeah, he can totally hold his own against the 4 tail, he is one of the Legendary Sanin, in my opinion he is tge weakest of the 3, but what makes him so annoying is that damn jutsu when he sheds his skin, that what is keeping him safe. And since yall mentioned this, yes Orochimaru failed to take Itachis body cuz he was too strong, also consider that the rest of the Akatsuki would've defended Itachi when Orochimaru betrayed them, so he decided to give up on that, but also remember when Itachi and Kisame came face to face with Jiraya and Itachi said to Kisame 'Let's leave cuz if we stay, he might kill us both'. Just putting it out there, so yall kinda know how strong Jiraya really is lol that's why I think he is the more powerful one of the 3 sanin. I can't wait for Wednesday! Hyped!

Not only is Orochimaru fighting the 4 tails. You also have to remember he got nerfed because he can’t use his hands. And most jutsu need hand signs to even do them. So he’s down like 80% of his power here and still giving the 4 tails a run for his money.

Naruto himself may want to fight the akatsuki, but the fox doesn't give a shit, he just wants to wreak havoc, which is exactly why he was sealed in the first place. Guys Orochimaru is a legendary Sanin. A LEGEND. Yeah, jiraiya said naruto with 4 tails almost killed him, but also, you have yet to see Jiraiya go all out against someone. If jiraiya was actually battling naruto, it definitely wouldn't be as one sided. You just haven't seen the extent of the sanin yet, so that's why it may seem surprising. As strong as the nine tails and naruto are, naruto still lacks experience and control. Orochimaru isn't even at full strength.

Jiraiya said he almost died when Naruto reached 4 tails, not 3 tails. The Sannin are roughly comparable in strength. I'd also factor in the fact that Jiraiya probably wasn't trying to kill Naruto during training. He would have been fighting defensively and trying to restrain Naruto which I'd argue is harder than straight up defeating your opponent because you have to hold back. Jiraiya could probably stand his ground against 4 tailed Naruto, if not more, if he was fighting him as an enemy rather than a student he cares for Also, remember that Sai has no emotions. When he saw an opportunity to start his secret mission, he took action. He's laser focused and nothing else matters to him. He isn't good or evil. He's just efficient as a shinobi should be. He had no ill-intent when he ignored Sakura falling. He was just doing his mission. It's as simple as that

Orochimaru is one of the three Legendary Sannin for a reason, so you shouldn't be surprised that he has a chance against Naruto with 4 tails. Jiraiya would also still have a chance against Naruto in this fight! The Three Legendary Sannin have many more abilities at their disposal and are also much stronger than you have experienced them before. And please don't forget that only Tsunade, Orochimaru and Jiraiya are called the legendary Sannin and no one else in the world, so it's just the three of them!

Ron is right. It was in the anime when Orochimaru was without his hand, he mentioned that he was in Akatsuki to have Itachi as a vessel, but he couldn't, he left akatsuki and went in search Sasuke. But Sasuke didn't arrive in time, so he switched bodies with that random guy. And to change body again he has to wait 3 years

You have to remember guys that Orochimaru had his arm ripped off when Naruto was just in 3 tails. Its his immortality and regeneration thats saving him. Nothing else. Jiraiya doesn't have that ability. So it makes sense he would be hurt like that. For example how would Jiraiya manage that hyper beam from Naruto. If you noticed, the ground gave way under Naruto when he made the orb because of how dense it was. They will go more into this orb power later in the show. To be fair to Jiraiya, he was caught off guard. Ppl like to say Orochimaru was not serious in this fight. But he was. He is intrigued and amused, but he is still serious. He also already has used his body replacement jutsu multiple times, so he has taken major damage also. He is just a hard guy to kill bc of his ability to create a new body. He is a slippery fellow that can get out of tough situations. Not downplaying him though, he is insane.

1) Love this fight, one of my favorites of early shippuden 2) a few things. Jiraiya fought the 4 tails, not the 3 tails. He didn’t know if he could reason with Naruto at that point and wasn’t fighting to kill like Orochimaru is now, that’s why he almost died. He wasn’t going at full strength or trying to hurt Naruto. 3) you’ve seen Rashomon before during the Kiba fight in the sasuke retrieval arc 4) Orochimaru is one of the strongest ninja and was a candidate to become Hokage at one point, but the 4th hokage was chosen instead. Don’t underestimate him
