2023-10-01 19:44:58 +0000 UTCBasically they didn't specify because, um, it's genuinely an embarrassing way to explain a really cool characters death and it would almost take away from it being emotional in the live action imo. But I also understand it leaves people with questions. This was just the best way to put it where it didn't change anything from the manga/anime. Edit: Not to take away the sad backstory, but people have joked that Zoro is thinking about this because he fell down the well... And that's so rude and so funny, sorry lol Obviously the real reason is just struggling to find strength and using the promise as motivation etc etc...

In saying that, it can be assumed that along the ancestral line from Garp to Luffy, somebody obviously reproduced with a Latin American Woman creating Luffy 😂 Garp’s son perhaps? (Luffy’s father)

2023-09-23 08:32:46 +0000 UTCI thought Pirates were lame as fuck before I watched One Piece. I would always just imagine that Captain Feathersword dude from The Wiggles, but when you think about it, a bunch of crews out on the seas with powers etc its a super unique idea

This arc in the anime is probably the worst of the early arcs, but in the anime it develops Usopp a lot more, and does make more sense all the way through

2023-09-23 02:51:03 +0000 UTCAlso you guys need to remember that Garp being a white guy with a Scottish accent is only because of the actor 😂 It was strange for even me as an Anime watcher when I first saw him casted as Garp. But he’s a very good actor and doing a good job as the character so I don’t really mind.

2023-09-23 02:06:14 +0000 UTCYeah you’re right, Luffy is a lot stronger in the Anime but the reason they had to tone it down a little is because a big part of his fighting style is his Devil Fruit powers and the show most likely didn’t have enough budget to over use the stretching and rubber like abilities. Hopefully they do for season 2 though.

2023-09-23 01:50:27 +0000 UTCThe Live action left out quite a lot of information or did not make it to be obvious. Kuina is the daughter of Shimotsuki, the sensei of the dojo at Shimotsuki village. In the manga and anime, it was explained how she passed on. Also, Garp reveal as Luffy Grandpa was not until the anime Episode 300+. The Live action only covered story till Episode 60+. The only reason I think they revealed this in the Live action is to attract as many people to be fans of One Piece so they will start One Piece anime and manga.

When I joined the One Piece fandom, the fansub groups were on Skypiea. The depth of this world REALLY rewards folks who dig deep into the details and background easter eggs, but even if you watch or read casually, you'll still get so much out of it.

2023-09-22 22:45:51 +0000 UTCSo a few things of note, Kuina’s death goes unspecified here, but in the source material it was because she fell down a flight of stairs when was retrieving her whetstone for training with Zoro. She probably hit her head or broke her neck when it happened. And the other thing, Garp being revealed as Luffy’s grandfather didn’t come till much later in the source material, if they had kept to that we wouldn’t have found this out till a hypothetical season 4.
