A paper test like a litmus test is most likely given they stated it didn't match known poisons, and they would have prepared strips of paper to test for known poisons. Naruto's level of technology is a bit weird, i guess they'd probably also have mass spectroscopy and HPLC.

Hi, well, when you talked about empathetic Naruto is towards Gaara, in fact, as the chapters go by you will see that he is empathetic with practically EVERYONE, even with the "bad guys", because that is the kind of person he is, and it is the which is why we love him so much. And on the subject of Sasuke, as Michelle mentioned, he told him he understood his story and they talked about it. But Naruto knows that revenge is not going to take Sasuke to a better place, there is Naruto's understanding of him, Naruto could take revenge on many people, Naruto does not have parents or family just like Sasuke, that is why he does not want to watching Sasuke sink into darkness. He knows that this is going to cause him even more pain. That's why he wants to save him from that darkness, instead of helping him get revenge.

Naruto said it on his fight with sasuke but sasuke said “you can’t understand me, you don’t have a brother you are alone since the beginning.” Not that naruto doesn’t understand him, naruto just doesn’t wants him to go to that path while sasuke sees it as the only possible outcome plus seeking power from orochimaru and go to the dark side is a bad idea so naruto asks him to come back and basically willing to help him destroy itachi or whatever together. different from Naruto who can still think clearly about this, Sasuke has been blinded by revenge especially after seeing how Naruto is getting stronger quickly, Orochimaru on the other hand promises him extraordinary powers, Sasuke also knows that to get eyes like Itachi's he has to kill Naruto. and he didn't want that so he tried hard to destroy the strong bond between himself and Naruto and looked for other ways to gain strength. being with Sakura and Naruto made him walk too slowly and feel comfortable until he almost forgot his goal, they were his new home, that's why Sasuke decided to stay away and escape from that feeling.

After this Gaara rescue arc or whatever the official name for it is. It basically starts ramping up in intensity. So whatever you judge the arc to be just know that itll only get more and more intense. Not to even mention you getting to see some amazing shinobi and their powers!

Ron. I can't let you imply that Naruto doesn't understand Sasuke. He does understand him, he's just not willing to let his friend's body be taken over by Orochimaru, especially when Orochimaru will then use the power he gets from Sasuke's body to try and destroy the Leaf Village again. Naruto wants Sasuke to handle this in a much more healthy and intelligent way, but he definitely understands Sasuke. As far as Naruto and Gaara are concerned, they a literally in the exact same situation with very similar, almost exact childhoods, so of course it will seem like he is more sympathetic towards Gaara.

Naruto understands Sasuke. In fact, I think everyone understands Sasuke. They're just not about to kiss his ass because of his trauma. And the thing is, Sasuke isn't looking to be understood, he's looking for revenge. So it's like now what, they can't just let him do whatever he pleases at the cost of himself and others just because they understand and empathize with what his pain is rooted in. And naruto empathizes more with gaara because they're both jinchuriki. Sasuke is after some revenge shit. You could argue sasukes motives are more selfish. While gaara was never after revenge. He was more so angry at the world for outcasting him due to something uncontrollable. He just wanted to be loved and accepted, same as naruto. So naturally, there's more of a connection there.

Ron , Ron, Ron… Naruto never said he didn’t understand sasuke. He just knows that the route sasuke took wasn’t a good one. Naruto gets stronger through will power and knows Orochimaru isn’t the way to go. Also, Naruto views Gaara as the same as him and wants to save him. Naruto views sasuke as his friend and wants to save him. He understand both situations . He has shown he unwavering devotion to save sasuke basically all of OG Naruto
