2023-08-17 19:32:43 +0000 UTCThe reason you kept seeing Naruto in the hospital was because in the manga after he got discharged he did leave with Jiraiya almost immidetaly. So with those filler arcs they needed to put him back in the hospital so they could pick back up were the real story left off. This was just like when you saw Sasuke in the hospital twice, the first time when Tsunade healed him after Itachi, then a filler happened and Sasuke needed to get hurt again in the filler so he could end up back at the hospital to fight Naruto on the roof.

It's actually why i wanted KG first, it will show the quality to come both from an animation/music as well as emotional weight, just gotta skip the openings.... but yeah either way, i don't think Shippuuden is overhyped, but i share your worry about the first couple seasons.

2023-08-17 16:11:55 +0000 UTCOne note about fillers in old shonen shows that adapted from weekly shonen manga, it's because they started anime almost simultaneously with manga back then, so they have to fill the gap if the anime caught up to manga chapters. These days shonen shows using the same framework with other shows like late night seinen animes or dramas, by doing it in short seasons and taking break between seasons so they have enough content to be animated. There are also good fillers like in JJK or in AoT they only expanded some scenes in the manga by the original author's will. So it's still related to the main story and not "destroying" the characters' behavior. I've seen worst filler that they completely change the behavior of characters so it just didn't make sense when we got back to the manga's main story.

I know some people have commented in the past few episodes for you to watch. Also since it was like about 16 years ago if I still remember Naruto Shippuden aired the next week right after Naruto ended. There was no breaks. They have been airing the fillers while waiting for the manga to progress enough for them to continue back to the story in Naruto Shippuden so there was no breaks. Unlike anime now, the studios made fillers or stretch scenes to cover the time in episodes so they don't overtake the manga releases.

Especially since the first two seasons of Shippuuden have veeeery slow pacing in an attempt to never catch up to the manga and have to make filler again (since a lot of people disliked the two years of filler). The slow pacing lead to complaints, so they upped the pace after the first two seasons and accepted having filler arcs again. In case you guys aren't aware what a "filler" is, it's when the anime catches up to the manga and the anime team has to put in something to buy time for the manga to write more material. A manga chapter is only 19 pages, and 22 minutes of anime eats up at least 25-30 pages, so there needs to be time for the original manga to get a headstart. Would recommend against the requests for Kakashi Gaiden, if only because the risk of watching openings and endings. The episodes themselves are perfectly fine to watch, but the openings and endings of the Kakashi Gaiden episodes are chock full of spoilers since Kakashi Gaiden was animated years into Shippuuden's run time. But yes, in the manga, Kakashi Gaiden was put between Naruto leaving with Jiraiya and Shippuuden's start, so it makes sense to watch it here too. Just make sure you don't watch the openings and endings if you do.

That's why Naruto Shippuden is number 2 on my personal list. But only because rank 1 (made in abyss), I don't think can be beaten by any other show, at least in my opinion

I used to skip classes and even meals to go to the cyber café and watch Naruto at the time (no wifi everywhere as it's the case today). I finished Naruto in about a week (I can't remember how many of the fillers I watched, probably up to the 160s, but I skipped the rest of them when I noticed the consistent quality dip), then I waited for about a year I believe until Shippuuden started coming out. In the meantime, I was caught up with the manga, but I was still superhyped for Shippuuden. The best parts of the story are still far ahead, so I'm sure you guys are gonna have a great time!

To answer your question, for the anime, the wait between Naruto and Naruto Shippuden was not long at all. It was literally the next week. But if you think about it in regards to actual canon material, May 18, 2005 was when the last canon episode aired....the first episode of Shippuden aired on February 15, 2007.......I only read the manga that whole time and waited until 2007 to start watching the anime again. 💀 Now, it's not necessary to do this but I think it'd fun if you reacted to all the intros and outros from Naruto Filler Hell. They are actually really good; I missed them initially back in the day but went back after Shippuden had been out for a bit.

Not sure if it’s relevant or not, but I may not be the only one. It wouldn’t be wise to cut off some of Patreon members when the sub version are already good enough

Naruto ended up in the hospital every time, because the number one rule of filers is that the situation in the manga must remain the same after the filers. So basically, after the fight between Naruto and Sasuke, Naruto stayed in hospital until his departure with Jiraya. The only other thing that happened was Sakura asking the favor of being Tsunade apprentice. She took the resolution right after Naruto told him his promise is for life, and he will not stop before he bring back Sasuke. She then felt she had to improve herself. That being said : LET’S GO TO SHIPPUDEN !

Next time, see if it's a FILLER or SEMI-FILLER episode like those you just watched. It will make the journey more enjoyable.
