your analogy is proving your point wrong. If you watch the prequel with somebody who has watched the previous movies and they start talking about things that happened in those previous movies then yea its a spoiler.

However, for someone outside of that community that's not the case. For example, if you were talking with a group of people who are big fans of basketball and you're the only one who doesn't really know anything about basketball; Everything they're saying wouldn't be a known fact to you because you're not in the basketball community. Now connect that back to this situation. Michelle isn't part of the league community, while Ron on the other hand is. Therefore, he can easily make connections and understand certain things because of the context he has, and Michelle can't. What about what I just said doesn't make sense? I gave you an example and everything.

Not because you know whats original and what isnt, but to appreicate the time and effort the writers put into making an orginal compelling story filled with thematic dichotomies and introspection as opposed to a recount of events already known to players from the lore. Also heres a breakdown of a spoiler for you real quick. (Spoilers obvs for anyone reading) One of the bigger moments in the series in when jayce finally makes the hammer to fight with. For ron it would be a big payoff as a league player to finally see it happen, however for Michelle it would be a cool alluded to surprise that has been taken away because ron unfortunately spouted it out in excitement (which is valid but comprimising). It IS SPOILING because information that was meant to be revealed later in the series has been given too early. Also ur second point is totally misunderstood. I very obviously said in my first sentence that the show is ALSO ALSO ALSO intedned.... blah blah. To reiterate the show is for all audiences. Its obvious you want to just geek out and be like "HEY OMG IK THAT!!! OMG I PLAY LEAGUE LOOK", we get it. But that is just simply intruding on others experiences.

And your statement about the prequel thing is really illogical. I mean, if you're watching a prequel to a story with someone but you don't know the main story, it's obviously a spoiler if the other person then starts talking about the previous movies, i.e. the main story

2023-07-14 08:28:30 +0000 UTCWhether something is a spoiler or not always needs to be taken into context with the audience that's watching it, and in this case the audience is Ron (a league player) and Michelle (a non-league player). The beauty of Arcane is that there are pros and cons to both: as a league player you can find all the fun easter eggs, but you already have certain expectations of what's to come vs a non-league player may miss the easter eggs, but they get to experience everything completely new and be more surprised with what comes. I don't think we need to crucify Ron for getting excited at being able to recognize all the characters and hints (which I'm not saying is what we as viewers are doing) cause that's the fun of watching Arcane as a league player! But just he needs to be more aware that he may be taking some of the fun away from Michelle by doing that as well

2023-07-14 03:54:01 +0000 UTCI agree with what other people have commented in regards to all the character facts Ron keeps dropping and how it's potentially spoiling things for Michelle, but I am also still pretty impressed that he's been able to pick up on plot points that I've seen other reactors have been confused about - so at the very least you can tell he's paying attention to the plot. And the fact that some of these characters are already familiar to him makes it easier to remember who's who in a show with such a wide cast and therefore able to explain things to Michelle when things get confusing - he just needs to be more careful about dropping too much league info

For someone going in completely blind to this world, these are not "known facts", hints why Michelle is so confused. Everyone isn't a league player, therefore certain things are indeed spoilers. I want to see them actually enjoy and dissect the plot rather than constantly getting caught up in comparing and making connections to the game. I understand you sound like a big league fan, but cmon.

As an avid league player who watched this many many times in person with league player and non-league player friends I don't think its fair to demand players to "appreciate the originality" just because other people don't know the parts that aren't original. Its not just "easter eggs" the majority of this is cannon or as close to cannon as they could get in this story. Any character that is playable in the game that shows up in Arcane is close if not identical to their game lore/personality. If anything this functions as a lose prequel to the game. Asking people who have played league not to talk about the references or characters is like watching a prequel by itself and being like "omg spoilers" when someone mentions the previous movies. I also don't agree that this show was "intended to be for people who have not played League"... sure it might have been planned to be ALSO for those people but you can't say its intended mainly for non-players when there's SO many references/foreshadowing throughout the entire show. I mean it wouldn't even exist without its INCREDIBLY well known/popular game counterpart.

Thankfully it went beyond that and even people who didn't play it enjoy it but you cant exactly say things like knowing names or theorizing known mechanics (like the hammer or echo) are spoilers when they have been known things about these characters for many many years. Or even reacting to little 'easter eggs' like the hammer on the book. There's a lot of things in this show that are super subtle like that but are references to the game. It would be a shame if all of your League knowledge was thrown out the window when there are many many many references intended for league players to understand/appreciate. Its a show made off a extremely popular game after all. A lot of the stuff people are saying are "spoilers" are things that are known facts about pre-existing characters. For example theres even songs that have been used in other game related content outside of Arcane.

Trying to guess if each character is from leauge lore really takes away the ability to appreciate the originality of them and the world created around the lore. I think these reactions will be amazing with the duality of a non league player and league player watching. I just think its important to think of the show as an original stand alone show featuring league characters (With easter eggs for devoted fans), as opposed to a fan service for players of the game. Love yall <3.
