My understanding is that they flashback was of Tanjiros dad and mom after he was born and they were houseing to the demonslayer during the time he was fighting Muzan before he got caught and turned to Upper moon he thinks hes worthless because he couldnt kill him. Before the demonslayer left the house he gave Tanjiros dad his earings. Edit: Nvm timeline doesn't work for him to be upper moon didn't think that.

I'm not a manga reader but I don't understand assuming that it's Tanjiro's father. I assumed it was a genetic ancestor until this episode. But didn't Rengoku's father say that Sun Breathing was the original demon slayer breathing technique and that the Sun Breathers had a birthmark on their heads? I feel these conflicts with demons have been going on for hundreds of years, way before the birth of Tanjiro's father, and while seemingly connected to Tanjiro and the Master, are not necessarily immediate in a temporal sense. Like I said, I'm not a manga reader, this just what I've gathered based on what the anime has signaled.

So the person in Tanjiro's dream that you thought was his dad, actually isn't his dad! And this isn't a spoiler, since in the dream the demon slayer calls the Tanjiro-lookalike by the name of Sumiyoshi, which isn't the name of the dad. The name of his dad is Tanjuro. So, it's actually an ancestor of Tanjiro, and not his dad!

In my opinion the demons are all about one upping eachother. Akaza feels patronised by doma and Kokushibo and wants to be the 'best' demon out of the bunch. I believe the upper demons can have battles to determine their rank. So I think thats Akaza's perspective.

For clarification, there are all of the following breathing styles that we will see (and ever have seen in DS) without spoiling we have: Sun breathing - Tranjiro, Wind Breathing - Shinazagawa, Insect Breathing - Shinobu, Flame breathing - Rengoku, Water breathing - Giyu, Sound breathing - Uzui, Stone breathing - Gyomei, Mist breathing - Muichiro, Thunder breathing - Zenitsu, Beast breathing - Inosuke, Love breathing - Mitsuri, and finally, Serpent breathing - Obanai. These are all derived from other breathing techniques as stated by Rengoku, for example, sound breathing is an offshoot of thunder breathing. There two other breathing techniques that are spoilers so I wont mention those. P.S. fun fact, Tanjiro is doing the rengoku power stance towards the end of the OP.

I have a few theories I wanted to share too. I don’t think Muzan can walk in the sunlight. I mentioned this before but I think that blue flower that he was looking for might give him the ability to walk in the sunlight, but I’m not sure yet. Tanjiro also isn’t related to the guy he saw in his dream because they were talking about passing something down since he had no heir and the only thing passed down was the earrings and the sun breathing technique. Tanjiro is only related by those two things and not by blood. I’m not sure who the upper moon 1 is but he has to be related to the guy that saved Tanjiro’s father and mother.

About Akasa, I have the same feeling as Michelle😂 I mean I should hate him but at the same time while watching this ep I was like “Damn somehow you look handsome tho” and talking about, his tattoos in my country people love to create a nickname to the character for adoring them or make it an easy way to calling them in our language. Akasa end up called as a “Basketball” because of his tattoos LOL maybe it's not just my country but calling him this way is so hilarious. Akasa may look angry with another upper rank. Maybe he is not that bad guy as Michelle said. but all I can see is he’s easily triggered so everyone loves to tease him I mean Douma. Well, if I was him Im gonna do the same thing 😂😂

Ive found that if I try to watch anime like reactors do, i.e watch a load of different ones at a time and talking to friends while doing so, I tend to forget loads of details whereas generally if Im just watching 1-2 animes at a time and by myself, I remember everything far better. Just a little recap from season 1, Tanjiro's Dad's name was Tanjuro, but the redhead guy called the Tanjiro-looking guy Sumiyoshi, so that's definitely not Tanjiro's Dad. All we can say is that Sumiyoshi is definitely in Tanjiro's clan (well, the look is obvious), but who is the redhead? What's their relationship with each other and upper one? We don't know yet and saying more would be spoiler

I really do hope you guys can go to an onsen but as for what I’ve heard or read from articles/vlogs about Japan (from a long time ago), there seems to be some onsen bath houses that are not accepting of guests who have tattoos. They said it is more of a cultural thing but good news is there are onsens who do welcome guests even with tattoos.

In the OP (at the end of the episode before the credits) where you see that guy that Ron and Michelle are so mystified by, followed by all those other people and then the Hashiras and finally by Tanjiro and gang, if you remember what Kyojuro Rengoku's dad said in season 2, Sun Breathing was the original style and then others like water and flame branched off from that. So everyone who followed behind that guy were the hashiras of those other styles. Zenitsu's master was there, and I think I saw Urokodaki as well. So it just showed everyone from the very first breathing technique up to now.

for the similar hair color part, the first time Tanjiro met with his swordsmith in season one, he said that Tanjiro is the son of fire( or something like that), and expected his katana to turn red, basically it means Tanjiro's life was fire related, with dark red eyes and dark red hair color, due to his previous and family work, which is selling coal. And by that it means that its not a Kamado family only hair color.

i havent read the manga but with all the information they've given us so far im assuming the upper moon 1 was the first demon slayer to give muzan a hard time with his sun breathing hundreds of years ago which was passed down to the kamado family (hence why muzan is so agitated by tanjiro who looks like him and uses sun breathing). So, the dream that tanjiro had was not of his dad but of one of his ancestors when they met that demon slayer.

Anime Only watcher, don't spoil me manga readers please lol *Ubuyashiki family is referring to the master's family - Kagaya ubuyashiki *From what I've concluded after going back to previous episodes to confirm, that wasn't Tanjiro's dad, his dad had a patch on his forehead, voice was different, they also said his dads name when he first got introduced to Haganezuka(the one who made his sword) in episode 5 of the 1st season - I'm the son of Tanjuro and Kie. This guys name was Sumiyoshi *I think upper one and the guy with the earrings are completely different people, they both have different voices and after rewatching, I noticed that their scars are also different, earrings has one on his forehead, but upper one has 2 scars, one on the forehead and one on the chin/neck *Also, I think the earrings guy voice actor is Kakashi sensei lol, so that really helped me realize they're 2 different people

LOL finally we made it. This episode gave me chills in theatres and I'm always insanely impressed with Ufotable's ability to control 3D environments. The infinity castle is some of the most insanely beautiful and complex background environments I've ever seen in an anime. Other animes look jarring at times when they use 3D but demon slayer just knows how to make it work incredibly. I read the manga back to see what the beginning sequence with Akaza looks like in the manga and he literally just jumps down and a couple panels later he's at the end where they have the meeting. Ufotable really flexed and freestyled that entire sequence with no source material. Also Mitsuri is 19 don't worry lol

Oh, another detail, upper one and the guy in the dream has different VA, different clothes color and at the end, idk if you guys remember, Tanjiro says in first season that your Dad is called 'Tanjuro', this guys in the dream is called Sumiyoshi. I don't read the mangá, i'm justing refreshing the details in the anime, because i was confuse with this episode too, but i watch so many reactions that i saw the tanjiro's father name and the VA of the guy in the dream is the same VA of tanjiro's Father, the Kokushibo, upper one, is same VA of bleach character Byakuya, so i notice this details and understand a little better what happen in this scene.
