There are hundreds of schools like this in the USA which still exist, alongside a few outside of the US. I would suggest looking into the "Troubled Teen Industry" - that's the catch-all term for "schools" like this. Here's a link with a list of currently active places like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/troubledteens/wiki/index/active-programs/ While some individual 'teachers' and 'therapists' have been sued over the years (usually after the direct death of a student), I can't think of any real responsibility being taken by a leader of an organisation. Often, if a school gets sufficiently low ratings and sufficiently poor publicity, the staff just close the school and make a new one, or rename the existing one.
