The Rise of Skywalker

Hello, $10+ patrons. Earlier this year, I released a poll asking whether or not my patrons wanted me to make another video about figures in the 2020 election. You voted YES, and I completed a Vice President Mike Pence video a couple weeks ago. Now it's time to voice your opinion again. I'm conflicted about whether or not to bother with a video on The Rise of Skywalker. On one hand, the video may do well considering the topic. My work on The Last Jedi/The Force Awakens did well enough. On the other...it's Star Wars? Haven't I talked about it enough? Hasn't EVERYONE talked about it enough? By the time the video is done, the movie may even be old news, but it's kinda tempting to make a video that I know people will watch.

Looks like the ayes have it. I'll have to get working on this before the year is out.

I voted no, but mostly because i dont think it would be worth it. Like it might get some right wing nuts to watch your videos but i feel like there are more recent things you can talk about to get them all mad. But honestly your videos are really good so 🤷 edit* i actaully dont know if you are trying to get a certain type of people mad. Or if you want mad watches. Sorry i assumed alot

I loved your first order/fascism video, definitely on board with more political star war stuff.

I have a lot of opinions from a few different angles on this film, I'd be curious to see what yours is. I definitely found the entire film to be cynically produced disaster on a narrative and thematic level and the politics and business that went into it even worse. I imagine you'd have something to say about how a movie like this lets the trolls and the worst people of the fandom off the hook for the way they treated Rian Johnson and worst Kelly Marie Tran? Like the film feels like an affirmation of their toxic beliefs.

I can't say 100% for certain, but I may write a script about how The Rise of Skywalker not only put a stop to narrative elements introduced in The Last Jedi but also *political* elements introduced in The Last Jedi. In TLJ, Star Wars finally explains its military-industrial complex, and there's a little bit of "baby's first socialism" stuff...which is completely ignored in TROS.

I'll be honest, it doesn't interest me, but then I didn't even go and see the movie. From what I've heard it sounds like it was quite a superficial conclusion to the new trilogy and didn't challenge people as much as TLJ, so it's hard to imagine there's a lot to talk about there, but maybe I'm wrong. Are you able to give more detail about what the angle for the video would be?
