The End Is Nigh?
Added 2020-07-31 13:45:55 +0000 UTCI'm filing this under "rumors & speculation", because I haven't been able to verify it from any credible sources - Patreon supposedly lost a huge lawsuit, that could end up crippling them financially. Gloom & doom, yada yada...
Again, none of this has been verified by any news sources I'd consider credible. Even if it is true, odds are Patreon will appeal the ruling as far as they can, to either have it overturned or to have their penalty drastically reduced. Failing that, they may file for bankruptcy and restructure to avoid paying the plaintiffs anything.
In the event that they shut down, become less viable, or raise their fees, then I'll have to look into other platforms. That's... not exactly fun to think about right now, because I don't have a lot of free time to do the research, much less get things set up for when I'll need it.
For now, it's a game of wait-and-see. Just to be safe, keep an eye on my Twitter or Discord!
