Update on Rain and Shine update
Added 2019-07-28 09:32:54 +0000 UTCAlright, so just wanted to give a heads-up since there is going to be a lot changing in how Rain and Shine is played. So since I have all these modules that kind of play off of one another and it would be a shame to miss out on them I'm going from a linear 'go from A to B' style of play to mission-based. Basically you start out in a shelter, go out and do some stuff, then return to the safety of the shelter. Since there is no profession system anymore to deviate to places you can now choose where you want to go from the shelter to do the missions that you need.
This is a huge change and the foundation needs to be retrofitted from the ground up, so expect a lot of different things to be happening when this update is released. There's going to be a lot of construction going on so what you're going to see is a lot of the set-up for the systems that are being put into place before going out and doing the missions that will help you reach your destination. This will be the same in the corrupted and the survivor path and is essentially what was going to be implemented in phase 2.
I'm also pleased to announce the following systems are going to be put into place as well:
Companion system: Tired of just having Mason and Don following you around as a survivor? Wish you could have a rubber carnotaur or naga as a corrupter? With the establishment of mission-based mechanics you can now have someone going out with you that you choose! There will be four to choose from to start and more that you can get as you complete your objectives! Also built in will be an affection system as well, so you can be friends, lovers, enemies, or whatever you want with those in the shelter.
Corruption system: No more one-and-done events, now you have to manage your own corruption levels in order to stay on the side of humanity (or whatever species you chose)! Or, you know, find a means to get corrupted quickly and then go to the corrupter side of the game (we all know that's what you're going to want to do anyway...).
Random Events: It's dangerous to go out in Kajira post The Shining Rains, in fact things may happen to you! Now that I know how RNG works in Ren'Py you'll have a chance of running across something neat, or potentially corruptive on your way to and/or from a mission!
So like I said, a lot of foundational events are being built into this game to really make it something enjoyable, then using all the modules from the previous version of the game to fill the entire thing out. Hope you are looking forward to it!
