Snowstorm Mission To Mountain Peak Radar Station

The first mission of the north Italy journey. The weather wasn't what we expected and, at first, I was quite demotivated by it. With the increasing elevation, beautiful views and good company - my mindset quickly changed and I realized the rain never prevented me from having a good time. Admittedly, Matt and checkmate weren't as prepared for the wet and cold as I was and the final push through the snow was more fun for me then it was for them. Near the end, after about four hours of hiking we were exhausted and, with the snowstorm increasing, we made it just in time to our shelter. Dry socks and warm food were a well-deserved reward, plus the metal-chain mattresses we found in the attic were a very pleasant surprise. The gorgeous mountaintop views of the morning were waiting for us as we slept calmly through the night.

This journey was recorded traditionally, but decided a focus on the missions individually is a better release plan. After the missions, I will still release the full journey video with activities that happened in between. However, before anything else, the next upload is going to be my new 7 song album and a music video to accompany it. I have worked on this for a while and happy to finally have it done. Thanks for the continued support!

This video was very exciting and spectacular. It always makes me want to go hiking and explore some small deserted place in my home country (Hungary).

The video is great, but I’m really loving the new album. Definitely going to have it on repeat to help get me through the winter.

Great adventure, also surviving this kind of weather. Indeed the small things count living on the edge.

Glad you guys made it to the abandoned NATO radar station despite the weather. Old radar arrays like that and Duga in Ukraine are super interesting!

The money I send as a Patreon to Shiey is the best money (apart from my mortgage) I spend in a month. I'm living a totally different life through you guys! Keep up the good way, so entertaining and perspective-shifting...

Great video, really interesting and the kind of thing I would probably never come across on my travels. Shiey should head down to Rome if he is in Italy again, as there is lots of abandoned stuff in that area. You can never go wrong with two sleeping bags.

Really enjoyed this video & the views are so stunning! 😍 Poor Checkmate looked so weathered when you got near the shelter. I actually had the privilege of exploring some bunkers around the Baltics with a couple of Checkmates's friends.

Stunningly Beautiful 🥰 Yes....living on the edge reminds us all of how the 'little' things like shelter, warmth and hot food are how we survive....also thankful for all we have 😊 Living off grid keeps me grounded 🙃 Beyond Excited for the next upload....Your Music 😎 Always - Be Safe and Take Care out there!!

Came back to say that the snow test made me chortle. Really effective method, I’d say. Hope you guys at least indulged in some hot chocolate after all that.

Katie

Hope i can get a group of friends in on this kinda life. Escape from the rat race.

So lovely to have this in my notifications on a rainy day like today ... It's great when the weather cannot stop your adventure. That morning in the snow on the mountain must have been cool in more ways than one. lol The tranquility ... I love snow, it quietens the world. ♥️🏔️📡

New music? I am so happy. That's how I "found" you. I'm really looking forward to the new album. And your videos give the songs the right emphasis. Wonderful. 💚

Reminds me of one of my hikes in the italian mountains aswell. Walking in the snow for countless hours, even if it was cold and wet, the silence took me to a mindspace that guided my legs with no effort; made me feel so tiny in my big winter outfit. I thought I'd been absorbed by my surrounding, like I could disappear : a feeling of ultimate peace. Seeing you get that took me down to memory lane. Thank you.

charlayee

Ahhhhh!! Sweet! Can’t wait to watch! Always good to see you again. 😁 made my day a whole lot brighter to see that you uploaded.

Katie

Amazing views you captured! Definitely looked intense the more all of you traveled into the snow. I liked the speech you gave about how these experiences make you more appreciative of the simple things in life. And the way you described your food😆

Also, looking forward to the album

I do love that gloomy winter palette

G.R. M.

Damn, that looks cold as hell. Being in Southeastern Texas we don’t have that kind of weather or mountains. I would have froze my ass off. Keep those amazing videos coming, love seeing your journeys.

Devin Hooper

Perfect 😍 You made my day ♥️

Christin

Hi, hope you're feeling your best ❤️ Was this... colder than the polar night? 😶‍🌫️ It's fun seeing the different perspectives of a trip! It's really motivating for me to see that even adverse weather isn't an excuse to not explore. Thanks as always for your inspiration. Also, I'm beyond hyped for the new album, shit's about to be fire, I know it.

OutdoorCat_V

Looks awesome!

Cant wait to watch this
