Update on My Two Indie Projects: Yatra & Project Valhalla

I wanted to take a moment to share some updates on my two ongoing indie projects: Yatra and Project Valhalla (working title, and formerly known as Valhalla 45). Both are in different stages of development, but things are moving forward in a promising direction.

Yatra is an ancient/future tale that blends retro sci fi with grand fantasy. Exploring the soul's journey across lifetimes. A deal has been signed to co-develop the project with a New Zealand studio led by former Weta employees. With the studio’s expertise and connections, the goal is to pitch Yatra as both an animated series and in particular, a video game. This collaboration is still in the early stages, but I’m optimistic about the direction it’s heading.

On the other hand, Project Valhalla is a hard sci-fi mecha & horror fusion. Humanity searches for answers to its origins against a cosmic horror backdrop. I’m working with a few writers, including a Black Library veteran, to help shape the narrative and the universe. We’re currently focused on world-building, as well as developing a video game pitch and script treatments. Additionally, we have a backer who is interested in funding a proof-of-concept pilot episode if the written materials are developed to a solid state.

Project Valhalla is currently the focus of this Patreon, and your support is helping to move this project forward.

There’s still a lot of work to be done. It’s a slow process, but I’m looking forward to seeing how things evolve with Yatra and Project Valhalla in the coming months. Thank you to everyone who has supported the journey so far!

Hi Syama! Nice to hear that Floating Rock is engaged :D As a VFX artist, I decided to switch to Unreal several months ago and I will be happy to help! Have a good one

Hervus

Thank you so much 🙏 you truly are a refreshing breath of new ideas in a world filled with nostalgic hearsay 🗣️

Hey Syama! Was just wondering how you do your MOCAP / Character Animations? In some of your previous Astartes BTS videos I saw you using a mocap suit and then tracking it manually based off of your own recording. Was wondering what your workflow is like now for mocap, I usually use mixamo for pre-made animations, but it can get limiting sometimes when trying to tell a story and I've been trying to find a way to do my own mocap without spending a crazy amount on a suit or spending multiple days just for one animation on a film with multiple characters.

I just subbed and wanted to say you are a great inspiration to me. You made me believe that one can make something absolutely insane! Thank you and I will follow closely all your projects :D

ApulJack

So this is what you've been up too bruv! I saw your reel earlier tonight and jumped out of my seat with joy! I'm loving it all!

Samuel Martin III

Amazing updates Syama! You're making an impact, I'm glad I can support your projects!

Zappo79

Appreciate the update and excited to see what comes next! If it was based on either of these projects, I would buy the video game in a heartbeat

CommissarGurke

Man, seeing your clips this morning made my day! Good luck with both projects and I'm happy to see Astartes continuing also :)

Great update! Astartes II looks amazing btw but I have to say that my personal favorite snippet is the axe shot from V45, there's something powerful about it. Is it me or does he activate some kind of force field around it (with the dust reacting around it)?

HoldMyDrink

I can't describe my excitement and frustration seeing both of these notifications on, of the Astartes II trailer and an update from you patreon, and having to finish my shift at work before I could look at them! So excited to know more of what's going on and so so excited to see where all this goes

Batcat

Glad you're back! Can't wait to see more in the coming months/years

Geoff Worling

A bountiful harvest of projects marks a triumphant return. :) Can't wait to see what you have cooked up!

Sean Grady

I can't contain my excitement! Looking forward to these projects!

filip bakovic

What a guy!

A trickle, and then a flood of three project updates all at once. Looks excellent, thanks for this and the Astartes II drop.

davekroil

That sounds awesome! Question though, are you also involved in the Astartes 2 series? I really hope you do!!

abdenour bachir

For The Emperor!

Ēriks Savrasevičs

Sounds fantastic! Will the original episode be released at some point? Or is the pilot episode completely new?

Gabriel Wismer

Good luck! Will you show us any behind the scenes?

Peter bučo

Was wondering where you were. Then that banger of a Secret Levels 40k episode dropped. Oh. That's where you were. I appreciate how you bring your love of the fiction, commitment to a consistent tone, and skills as an artist together. Unfortunately, that mindset doesn't get much of a chance to breath in the entertainment world where lots of money and promised schedules reign supreme, but it seems that you are finding a place to continue to do your good work. My patreon stands :)

chromicacid

Your work is truly inspiring mate! Your work is what got me to start 3D animation myself. You’ve done nothing but improve since your original Astartes Project and that’s saying a lot with how high you set the bar for yourself. Never stop mate, you’re the best I’ve ever seen, you’re what I aim for!

Mkenna Liston

Awesome man, good luck with it!

amin Boudjelida

Can't wait to see more!!!

Kai Draws

It's been ages! So happy and excited for this and ASTARTES 2.

LoreData

HECK YA! That is so AWESOME!!! So exited!
