Yatra Follow Up & 'Knight' Concept Poll
Added 2021-06-28 01:48:26 +0000 UTCJust a follow up to the previous post to thank everyone for the positive reception! And officially confirm 'Yatra' as the current project supported by this Patreon page :)
At this stage support will be going towards finalizing the, 'Knight' character concept and his mount, then having his 3d model created. Also will be looking for 3d environment artists for the next phase.
Speaking of the, 'Knight', I'd like some input on which helmet direction you like best! (See image and poll.)

2021-08-03 17:44:05 +0000 UTCIt is worth paying attention not only to how windy/arid the planet is, but also to the ambient temperature, the weather in general, the temperature difference between day and night, if any, the change of seasons, etc. Then again, if this is a hot, arid planet with storms a la Dune, where is the eye protection? Who will walk in thick overalls and iron armor under the scorching sun? All soldiers would rather faint from heatstroke than face the enemy. If this is the future, then why do they look like this is the Middle Ages? Ok, if this is a reference, then look at the crusades, how the knights were dressed. Again, if this is a future and a sandy planet, what's the problem with making lightweight coveralls and breathing/filtration systems, even the most primitive, just thick masks for filtering dust during sandstorms or those used in industrial airbrushing/graffiti artists and wide "tactical glasses" for eye protection. Technical backwardness? Ok, in this case, for protection and thermoregulation, you need a lot of light multi-layered fabric, as the Bedouins do in deserts, etc. At the same time, I would not want to see projects that are secondary, and filled with references to already existing fantasy universes or some familiar images from the real world, like Astartes, Dune or special forces such as SWAT, Crusades, etc. at the same time, it may be worth taking the most realistic elements from this and using it to develop your own unique concept, something that has not yet existed. Of the options presented, I would not choose a single one, but the most suitable option is C and, to a lesser extent, option A.

2021-07-13 03:04:54 +0000 UTCLooks like I voted for the least popular one: B. I find it's a good display of cyber medieval style. That helmet could feature some kind of energy shield to both protect the face and offer optimal visibility. Maybe combined with some kind of holo HUD..

2021-06-28 14:14:39 +0000 UTCD, because it channels Roman Legionary / early mounted knight. It looks cooler IMO.. and this is art, so form over imaginary function maybe applies :-) As a nod to practicality, it could have a Magic Visor TM that pops out from somewhere when the plot demands it.

2021-06-28 05:49:45 +0000 UTCA or C. If you have such an extensive suit of armour, I would think it illogical not to protect the face. I just feel like carrying ~40 pounds of armour, when a fist to the face can knock you out, doesnΒ΄t sound too much like a good deal. Also if you look at medieval armour, as soon as the people were more heavily armoured, the helmet was closed and protected the face as well.

As a rank indicator amongst themselves...hm an idea worth exploring :) More backstory coming! But as you might expect from me, spoilers are left for the finished video :)

I love the coat, where did they get it from? Is it a native animal or synthetic? Are there ways to determine their 'rank' based on the coat?
