The new PPSSPP core is beginning to run!
This time, we are working closely with upstream to ensure we don't fall behind again in updates. The intent is there to upstream this core, and already a PR has been pushed already by Hrydgard for the purpose of making the libretro core feasible.
A couple of things we are currently still working on:
- Testing right now on Linux. -O0 runs the core fine, -O2 causes some segfaults right now. We are going to try to iron those issues out.
- There might still be some PIC compliance issues with the dynarec. I am trying to help hrydgard with tracking some of those down. This is the cause of those pesky 'WriteOp: rest out of range' issues that you might have seen pop up with earlier versions of the PPSSPP core.
- We are still figuring out hooking up sound. Probably some minor thing we are overlooking.
- We want to make this a pretty full-featured 'headless' core port of PPSSPP, exposing all the options you see in standalone. So this will still require some effort on our part.
Right now we have it already running with video and input. We intend to get this into your hands as soon as possible. This is currently our number one priority! As soon as this new core is in a release-worthy state, we will start working on getting the Supermodel core into your hands!
