To kick things off, and as promised, $150 has been made available for bounties on Bountysource! Over the upcoming days you will see us setting up additional bounties on issues (both RetroArch and core-related).
You as an individual user can also join on Bountysource and pledge additional money towards issues. These are one-offs and you can pledge money using either Paypal or Coinbase.
Note that we are dependent on the money we receive on Patreon in order to keep putting in $150 each month. So if we were ever to fall below our previously achieved goal for this, we would have to cut back on the money being allocated towards this purpose. On the other hand, the more we receive, the more we can raise this bounty pledge beyond $150 on a monthly basis. So more is better in this case! Your support is essential in order to keep this system going!
Some other notes: unfortunately there are some issues with Bountysource right now, when I input a URL I just get a blank page back. We are talking with Bountysource tech support (who work on a volunteer basis) to see why these issues happen and whether or not they can fix them.
We apologize for us taking a bit to get this bounty system on the road. There were disagreements over how to do it, there were people who thought it wouldn't work out, then there were issues over how the money would have to be sent each month. At one point Bountysource even wanted to kill off Bitcoin as a payment method, which posed an immediate problem for us since Paypal cannot be reliably trusted upon as a project with ties to emulators. So in the end, it was a lot of research and communication that led up to this system finally being implemented. In the end, I think we have arrived at a decent solution to these problems.
