Our first bounty!

Our first development issue on which we have placed a $20 bounty!

This particular issue involves write permissions for SD cards (Android 6.0+ issue).

Any user is free to pledge money too towards any given issue; so together ,we can raise the total amount ensuring that the right issues get prioritized!

We are going to be spending another $130 on other issues this month as bounties! Each month we will spend $150 on bounties.

We will be adding more of these as the week goes on!

Contributions from libretro per month are a seed; other people can then pledge money as well on top of it.

We can and likely will add additional funds to existing bounties each month as the bounty budget allows.

Our first bounty!

I guess only R-Type can say what need to be done before the core progresses from WIP to stable. I agree with Francesco's view that the core would be available via Buildbot for all major platforms as per FUSE, MAME and such. My personal wish list would be: * All Commodore emulators from the VICE suite i.e. x128, xplus4, xvic and xpet ported to libretro in addition to x64 / x64sc. * Advanced options such as SID model, VIC-II palette and such appear in core options and are made persistent. * vicerc0 file created in libretro config directory or similar (if still required) rather than $HOME. * Keyboard events that are mapped to RetroPad buttons do not get passed to VICE. I currently have to comment out entries that overlap with default RetroArch keys in sdl_sym.vkm. * Option to use VICE 2.4 (or Frodo) as a separate core for better performance / less accuracy as per Snes9X 2002, MAME 2003 and such. * Save state support. In spite of the above, the core works very well. It's fantastic to have this; much like FUSE the video handling in the stand-alone emulator isn't up to much in my opinion but with this core it's very close to a real machine. The Commodore 64 community is still absolutely huge and if any home computer needs some libretro goodness, this is it!

Francesco Maida, right now, we are putting in $150 per month into our Bountysource account. We can then spread that money out across the issues that we wish to prioritize. So we are reliant on Patreon money to be able to keep spending that $150. That is what one of the goals was for. In addition to this, you as an individual user can then 'pledge' more money to any issue. You can do this on Bountysource. The libretro/RetroArch github repositories should be accessible there and it should be possible to pledge there using either Paypal or Bitcoin.

Hi there Francesco Maida,

The Libretro Team

I agree, and I'd like to suggest that a request for this bounty should be that the C64 core should be made available for every platform on which Lakka is currenty available with a stable release; if a platform is too weak to support Vice, you might consider to include Frodo instead (I heard that r-type worked on a libretro core one year ago). Where I can pledge money for this project?

Francesco Maida

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. I will allocate some money towards that this month. Let me know what kind of changes could constitute a stable release?

The Libretro Team

If you choose to put a bounty on getting the Commodore 64 (VICE) core to a "stable" release (it's pretty solid as it is), I will definitely put some money in. R-type deserves some recognition for his work on this, would be a shame for it to remain as a WIP, with many users unaware that it even exists.
