Day 10 & 11: return to Tokyo, Zoo & National Museum
Added 2019-01-18 11:49:08 +0000 UTCFinally back at my Tokyo hotel, after a 2.5 hour Shinkansen bullet train ride! I mostly took it easy yesterday, and explore the Golden Gai area not too far from my hotel. I passed on drinking, given that I’m just now feeling 100%! Today’s adventure took me to Ueno Park, the Ueno Zoo, and the National Museum! I’m sure you all know what a nerd I am, so it should come at no surprise that I found myself in the museum for the better part of the day. They had some incredible Katanas in their collection, as well as some remarkably well preserved artifacts from history. My favorite was easily the clay segments carved with Cuneform, dating back to 1000 BC. Seriously, I would be happy to live in a museum surrounded by ancient artifacts and artworks.

They DID have a pangolin! He was sleeping in the nocturnal room, so I wasn’t able to get pictures. Unfortunately the Katanas are considered national treasures, and had a little sign next to them requesting no photos.
