Hiatus

Hi, all. I said all these in the ad break in the Power Rangers episode, but I am writing here to notify anyone who didn’t get that message that GEE is going on a small hiatus. Glen is out of town until May, for one thing, but also I am just really beat and I need to not make podcasts for a hot second.

As you may know, this podcast is in some ways a one-man show. I don’t say that to downplay Glen’s role as cohost, but I do 100 percent of the research as well as 100 percent of the producing and editing solo, and I’ve just found myself in a situation where as soon as I finish one episode, I have to get going on the next. As a result, I have been having trouble finding time to get non-podcast-related stuff done. And while I’m using Glen being away to catch up on other stuff, I have been batting around the idea of going to a biweekly format for a while. I know there are some of you who have been patiently waiting for online exclusive content, but unfortunately, I don’t at the moment see a way to do that without putting out fewer regular episodes.

The alternative, I suppose, would be outsourcing the editing to someone else, but I’m not sure that would work since all the clips we use go in after the fact — not part of the original recording, like Talking Simpsons does.

I’ve also not yet redone the tiers we offer here on Patreon, and I was thinking about maybe doing that in a way that could accommodate people who want extras but maybe aren’t wild about getting fewer regular episodes.

In the end, I am fine — or as close to that as any sane person could hope to be — but also am really relieved to get away from podcast work for a short time.

Thoughts?

I came to the podcast a bit later so I'm catching up on older episodes now. (Just heard about Tony Rodriguez getting cast on The Simpsons!) My point is that GEE is giving my lots of laughs, entertainment and insights during hiatus through the incredible library of great shows you've produced. Take the breaks you need and find the pace that's right for you to keep this valuable celebration of gay culture going. I'm grateful for all you've done and continue to do!

I don't object to not getting the public stuff early. I'm looking forward to your return!
