Isaac Hayes did not leave the show because of politics. He had a stroke and had to step aside because he was in no condition to work. The church of Scientology got mad about the tom cruise ep and made statements on his behalf at a time when he could not speak for himself because of his condition. Isaac Hayes son said this about his father in a recent interview.
