I loved all the characters in who’s coming to dinner. I love the era where we ushered in through great struggle light into the darkness of ignorance. Passing the torch to new generations to continue to expand our positive directions and making the negative mass programming of ignorance now in 2025 a small fragment of this large nation. Sadly media magnify the negativity of a very small portion of the percentage of the negativity that exists making it look larger than it is in order to keep us divided. I’m in my 80s. I am first generation American, whose family was liberated by the red army of the USSR who fought against the mustache man Nazis and lost 27 million people in order to break the back of Hitler. History that we are not top here all our movies show that we Americans and the British were the ones that won the war when an actuality the US was last to enter the war and financed both sides. Movies and media is a powerful influence. What’s a billionaire class that lobby are government to make their laws that override the population of this country and there will is to continue to use the divide and conquer system. It’s sad. And as us elders passed into the next transition and our dust here on earth, our memories our historical truth goes with us. I find that us elders with good standing and morals, especially those who immigrated during the second world war are like great history books, the leather bound books that are weathered and beaten up, whose pages are staying yellow with time, and some of the words are fading. To me, the youth should go and visit the elderly in the nursing homes and listen to their stories document their history, especially the ones that you’re told to not like or be afraid of. If we live in our own bubbles and don’t talk to each other, then we know nothing of each other, and we’ll never have a key to creating a bridge that we did not build that divides us. Your generation, my children, grandchildren, great grandchild, have some heavy lifting to do that, takes courage and learning how to communicate without the screens that separate us yet always listen. There’s no substitution for human to human contact as you write your notes of questions that defy what your taught in school in college or high school that fly in the face of what your eyes ears and mind have been told to believe always have the courage to question everything and come to your own conclusions maybe even start up a elderly reading group there’s so many possibilities to connecting to the past in order to figure out the present and where to go forward when the manipulation of AI and deep fakes have you under their spell. I’m sure that’s more than you would ever wanted in a response. The last thing I want to say is that I really like your character to not only state you made a mistake rather than just delete the statement and say nothing. You’re not the kind it would seem to throw a rock and hide its hand. Many blessings going forward. Remember question everything. My cards are free and even within the pages of “historical books“ remember an old saying that history is written by the victor.” if I were to recommend a book to you, it would be “operation paperclip.” It is written by a investigative reporter who took years and her own money to visit nation after nation following the money following the trails. It’s very enlightening.

I deleted my message because I realized that you were correct. That was the first inter racial kiss on television. I was thinking the first inter racial kiss on the big screen. Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner (released in 1967). It starred Sidney Poitier, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy & introducing Katherine Hepburn niece Katharine Houghton. The kiss was between Katharine & Sidney.

Uhura (oo-hoo-ruh) "Uhura" comes from the Swahili word uhuru, meaning "freedom". Nichelle Nichols, the actress who played Lieutenant Uhura on Star Trek. Had a profound affect on the future & helped NASA Break Boundaries on Earth and in Space. https://www.nasa.gov/people-of-nasa/special-observances/nichelle-nichols-helped-nasa-break-boundaries-on-earth-and-in-space/

I could be wrong but judging from that excerpt, MLK viewed the creator of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry, in a very positive light.

Chaos T

Mr. Video, this is a transcript of an interview Nichelle Nichols did with NPR talking about her encounter with MLK. "Well, I grew up in musical theater. To me, the highlight and the epitome of my life as a singer and actor and a dancer/choreographer was to star on Broadway. And as my popularity grew once the show was on the air, I was beginning to get all kinds of offers. And I decided I was going to leave, go to New York and make my way on the Broadway stage. And a funny thing happened. I went in to tell Gene Roddenberry that I was leaving after the first season, and he was very upset about it. And he said, take the weekend and think about what I am trying to achieve here in this show. You're an integral part and very important to it. And so I said, yes, I would. And that - on Saturday night, I went to an NAACP fundraiser, I believe it was, in Beverly Hills. And one of the promoters came over to me and said, Ms. Nichols, there's someone who would like to meet you. He says he is your greatest fan. And I'm thinking a Trekker, you know. And I turn, and before I could get up, I looked across the way and there was the face of Dr. Martin Luther King smiling at me and walking toward me. And he started laughing. By the time he reached me, he said, yes, Ms. Nichols, I am your greatest fan. I am that Trekkie. And I was speechless. He complimented me on the manner in which I'd created the character. I thanked him, and I think I said something like, Dr. King, I wish I could be out there marching with you. He said, no, no, no. No, you don't understand. We don't need you on the - to march. You are marching. You are reflecting what we are fighting for. So, I said to him, thank you so much. And I'm going to miss my co-stars. And his face got very, very serious. And he said, what are you talking about? And I said, well, I told Gene just yesterday that I'm going to leave the show after the first year because I've been offered - and he stopped me and said: You cannot do that. And I was stunned. He said, don't you understand what this man has achieved? For the first time, we are being seen the world over as we should be seen. He says, do you understand that this is the only show that my wife Coretta and I will allow our little children to stay up and watch. I was speechless." https://www.npr.org/2011/01/17/132942461/Star-Treks-Uhura-Reflects-On-MLK-Encounter

Chaos T

Leo, I’m here for it. Your commitment to Trek brought me to Patreon.

Tom Occhipinti

A huge reason why people love Star Trek is because of the characters. All of the Star Trek series have great, memorable characters that's hard to pick out a favorite. It's great seeing Mr. Video invested in all the crew in TOS.

Chaos T

They had some wild fashion in the 60's 😆 Glad you're enjoying the series!

Chaos T

sweet. joined for these. i'll stick around. always thought I should subscribe here.

dmh killah

Yes the Mudd episode! Don’y worry Leo its not the last your gonna see of that space pimp 🤣

El Santo

Uhura* character in Star Trek. If you continue to watch you will see history in the making in US TV. It is the first inter racial kiss! Under the laws of the United States back then husbands and wives in TV shows were not even allowed to sleep in the same bed! There were sensors that watched every scene and if you screwed up the FCC law, they would fine hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars to the producersof shows that didn’t follow the rules. We had censorship in America still do!

Laura Thate

Exercising the logical part of your brain will work. Even for you. Read books on it. Just jokes.

Didn't pay enough on the side Hash

Drip Drop

I'm glad you're enjoying it, but doing 3 hours of this or Stranger Things but only 60 minutes of South Park.....it would be nice if you gave your South Park followers THIS type of video, even ONCE. And yes, I'm aware it's because of the length of the episodes. But 4 episodes of a long show vs 2 of a show that is 22 minutes per episode....c'mon buddy

Violet

Where’s this kind of frequency and consistency been for all the other series

HashKetchum

I wish you were this committed to South Park and DragonBall Bro!! Keep up the good Jale and good Consistency 👍👌🔥
