That's cool yes I'm die hard star wars fan but I enjoy these just as much very entertaining and special effects get better over time enjoy em my man. It also highlights the quality of the series when this is one of the worst ones. On balance, I think the Star Trek franchise is the most consistent scifi franchise in terms of the movies they produced. The fanbase doesn't seem to hate them or be divided on the various films like we've seen in other franchises.

This film also highlights what sets Star Trek apart from a lot of other science fiction franchise. We get to see humanity at its best and there's always a message of hope for an undiscovered future.

2025-02-16 22:34:17 +0000 UTCThey took more inspiration from 2001 and Close Encounters for this movie...that slow place of discovery. I'm glad it isn't all laser battles and high fives, but both the original TV series and The Next Generation had a great balance between fun, sci fi, and friendship.

Highly recommend the next 3 films as they make a great Trilogy and are all top notch. If you do get into the actual TV Shows, they are a bit Goofy at times but also very well done. Great Scifi. Star Trek could be a good series to follow after you complete Always Sunny. After Star Trek 6 I would recommend watching Star Trek the Next Generation or select episodes of it before continuing the movies, should you continue.

Mainly Next Generation. The movie where they go back in time was what got me into it fan wise. But having zero star trek experience and going into their 1st movie might be super difficult. I own this and a few other ST movies but it's still hard to get into.

Danny Devito teaches english to some army recruits - Mark Wahlberg, Stacy Dash, and the kid from A Bronx Tale (also a banger movie for your list if you haven't seen it). Danny's daughter is played by the mom from Ted.

But yaknow star trek 2 the wrath of khan is a way better movie to start with if your into doing trek. While we are on the subject of 2nd movies in a series of movies how about Scream 2?

No one considers this movie the worst movie of all time. The effects are ass though, which if this was the directors cut would have fixed.

If you continue on with this series you’re in for a hell of a ride. Wrath of kahn is next and it’s arguably the best in the series and a must watch. For additional context, I highly recommend watching the original series episode space seed, it gives the entire backstory. Again really appreciate you Leo!
