2024-09-06 08:16:44 +0000 UTCI absolutely loved the fact that Olmar said that he didn't have the courage to ignore the guys' mockery and insults, resulting in giving the King an excuse to seize the farm and causing so much loss pain, and that there was nothing honorable in responding to them ; and then, you have Thorfinn humbly (with his hands together and even slightly bowing to Canute's guard) ignoring the guards' mockery and act as if they were nothing. That's what courage is. Beautiful parallel. It's even more beautiful when you realize that Olmar is what Thorfinn used to be : Thorfinn couldn't ignore Askeladd's mockery when he provoked him back then and kept on getting hurt ; all of that because he thought that responding to Askeladd's insults was a way to save his father's honor and his. The one thing that is different from Olmar and Old Thorfinn is that Olmar actually realized his flaws and started to regret the mistakes he made way sooner than Thorfinn did. Thorfinn is indeed the one who gave Canute that scar, you are right. He gave him that scar right after Askeladd passed away since Canute is the one who killed him. Then the guards tried to stop Thorfinn but Canute stopped them saying that this wound is a small price to pay for what he did to Askeladd. In my opinion (I may be wrong), Einar reacted that way at Arnheid's grave because he stayed there mourning for quite some time and when he turned around, Thorfinn wasn't there anymore (you can see Thorfinn next to Einar in the previous episode). Arnheid said "Thank you Einar, Thorfinn", it may have made him think about Thorfinn. He then started to be worried and wondered where Thorfinn was (had he already left?) and went looking for him. That's when he saw Leif who told him that Thorfinn went to see the King. Then, Einar went looking for Thorfinn to leave the farm. I like this meaning for his reaction because it emphasizes the very close bond between Einar and Thorfinn.
