Regarding chapter 3
Added 2023-05-18 05:56:32 +0000 UTCHello everyone, I'm posting because I've decided to make some serious changes to Chapter 3. If you look at the progress timeline of chapter3 there are 4 blocks. Now I just finished the first block. One of the smallest. The problem is, the first block alone is already about 2200 lines of code long. For comparison, the whole chapter 2 is about 5000 lines long and Chapter 1 even less. That means less than a quarter of chapter 3 is almost as long as half of chapter 2.
So I made a decision. If I continue as planned, Chapter 3 will be more than twice as long as Chapter 2, which sounds great but will take a lot of time. So I decided to split chapter 3. Otherwise my next release would be in about 4 months.
This now has the following advantages and disadvantages.
The advantage is, you don't have to wait so long and chapter 2.5 will have about the length of chapter 1, which is in my opinion a reasonable length.
The disadvantage is that, I write each of my chapters like a theater play. That means with introduction, main part, turning point, climax and epilogue. So a full fledged dramaturgical construct. But if I now divide chapter 3 into two halves, this of course somewhat destroys the dramaturgical arc. I have made minor changes to the plot to cushion this, but chapter 2.5 will not be able to stand alone, storywise. This is just a small note, so there won't be any surprises when I release chapter 2.5.
