One of my favorite flashback episodes in anime. Awesome discussion.

It's not just about being an eldian and suffering. It's about saving the world from suffering due to titans existing. If eldians are allowed to live, their existence breeds conflict. They're actual ticking time bomb monsters, but also they're just people It's a very nuanced and interesting conversation to have! Who knows what right or wrong. We love our eldians though :(

Yes!! That’s a great point!! And I definitely should’ve elaborated on that instead of leaving it as a blanket statement. I meant, within the means of control. If you can at least control/ manipulate the variables around you. So your example of war torn countries or those with a higher likelihood of diseases are instances where I myself wouldn’t have a kid either. If I was in that situation, I wouldn’t voluntarily have a kid knowing they’d go through that inevitable suffering. Great point! I definitely should’ve elaborated!

The whole idea about the pressure+heat=diamond mentality doesn't really vibe with me as a counter argument against suffering. There is plenty of meaningless, needless suffering that happens to hundreds of millions of people and choosing to have kids that are highly likely to end up suffering has always been selfish to me. For instance, those in extreme poverty, war torn countries, those with a high likelihood of developmental issues or hereditary diseases, etc. I include myself in the group of people who should never have kids, due to my disabilities. Life is already hard enough as is, why bring a kid into the world who will have a harder life right from the start?

Zeke didn't initially have resentment towards his parents, he was willing to become a titan with them before Ksaver convinced him to report them. Like with most childhood trauma, you don't understand it or process it until later on in life.
