I remember reading years ago that if Firefly had been renewed there was a plan to have Spike do a cameo in a bar as Mal and the crew came in for a drink. That would have been awesome.

The show actually did pretty well in terms of ratings and reviews, despite the network airing some of the episodes out of order(!) I'm from the UK so I never experienced that at the time but it sounds ridiculous that they went against the wishes of the show's creator, but I guess that's TV executives for you. Anyway, loved the review and the bonus kitty cat cameos!

He always reminds me a bit of Wesley, so I was not surprised that you like him too. 😅 Kaylee and Wash are my second- and third-favorite characters. My least favorite one would be Jayne, but only in terms of likability; he's a very entertaining character. I love to hate him. 😅 My favorite episode is Jaynestown. I know everyone says Our Mrs. Reynolds is the funniest episode (and I like that one a lot too), but honestly Jaynestown cracks me up even more. So many hilarious moments and the ending is very emotional.

2024-10-08 04:46:48 +0000 UTCI saw Serenity before the series (I had never heard of Firefly until later), and you're right. Book's and Wash's deaths don't hit quite as hard in hindsight. Also you raised a good point regarding River and her not being concerned about shoes. River's actress Summer Glau claimed she went barefoot because it was easier to get more into character, but the show itself never really gave a reason for why River did.
