Black and Grape share a complex past and are still good friends. They met as children in Homeworld, bonded over their mutual disdain for the ruler's oppressive governance and his disregard for the poorer areas. While Black endured abuse from the guards, Grape lived in a more privileged part of Homeworld, in a magical forest untouched by the ruler’s interest, where mages lived independently and largely at peace. Black often sought refuge in this tranquil forest to escape the harsh realities of his life, enjoying the peace Grape’s environment offered.

Despite Grape’s mischievous and sometimes annoying demeanor, they formed a close friendship. Over time, Grape developed a secret crush on Black and eventually confessed his feelings. Although Black rejected him, Grape remained hopeful. Oddly enough, Black found Grape's company comforting, but he was confused about his feelings, as he wasn’t romantically interested in men. Occasionally, they ended up in intimate situations, which Black rationalized as stress relief or experimentation. However, the more it happened, the more he enjoyed it, which troubled him due to Grape's emotional attachment.

Ultimately, Black stopped these encounters, not just to protect Grape from potential heartbreak, but also to safeguard himself. He knew he couldn't afford the complications of love.
