hellow- update time
Added 2023-03-16 01:41:52 +0000 UTChey everyone! back with an update in regards to comms and art and my break and stuff. tldr at the bottom
OK FIRST FIRST i saw a couple new patrons! hello, THANK you, and apologies for the empty month aughsdh and thanks as always to the many of you stickin' around
SO first off, still on the comm break, but i AM planning on opening up comms for the last couple weeks of march here. will likely only open to $5+ patrons and not take that many slots! i'm probs gonna open sunday or monday, and will also be gettting to some owed work from pre break then too.
secondly, about my break AND the future state of commissions.
OK THIS IS GONNA BE LONG AND PERSONAL but maybe offer some insight as to what i'm doing? i truthfully realized i am a bit burnt out on comm work- i really do enjoy creating for others but i feel i have inadvertently neutered my own personal style in order to develop something that's more generally palatable- unconsciously, i think. i think i had/have a fear of messing up details or making people upset because of my loose, messy, filter heavy style- so my clean lined comm style is much different than my usual "for myself" style, while my experimental type comms are more in line with the type of stuff i like i like to do. so ultimately i sort of "forced" myself into a specific style that i don't necessarily enjoy as much as i feel i could. ERGO i realized *that* i'm burnt out and over the break period *why* i'm burnt out. or at least i think i figured it out at the moment...
so, for the remainder of my break, i'm thinking on the future of my comm work. the thought at the forefront of my mind is that i am thinking to retire the lined style as it exists currently. if you haven't already seen, i have been playing around on csp and been enjoying it a ton! could just be the honeymoon period but i'm trying to play around with a similar style that could replace it, so to speak. or perhaps replacing it with the sketchy style but with some simple shading.whatever the answer may be, it will likely not be the clean sharp look that has been the norm in my flat lined works.
down the line, i will be looking to reduce the amount of comm work i take per month. i have bills and stuff to pay ALAS... so i'm probably looking to do a price increase soon, as soon as april potentially. but i am looking into other avenues of income that still involve art but may not explicitly be comm work... only time will tell atm
SO in short: thinking about retiring or replacing my current lined comm style, increasing prices, and taking less comm work as a whole, just due to artistic disconnect and burnout.
again, thanks a ton for all the support and kindness you all have given me... i will be mulling this over and testing stuff out for the next few days! thanks so much, i really don't know where i'd be without you all ;_;

I'm here for whatever you're offering, do what's best!
2023-03-17 03:11:59 +0000 UTCThe experimental art you've been creating these last few days have been so full of style I can understand why you want to set your art free from the bounds of the product like style guide you've found yourself in with commissions. I'm frankly more excited for where your evolving art is going!
